“Now the time is coming to reap what I have sown / Lord I feel I feel like going home”, Miko Marks sings in this spine tingling southern rock spiritual of self-discovery.

Starting out like a bluesy lost cut from Carole King’s Tapestry, Marks' vocal is a masterclass in emboldened self-possession. “Don’t know where I’m going / Seems I’ve been too long away”, she sings over a gently shifting piano, her voice giving gravity to every word, before she unleashes its full ferocious energy and raw bluesy swagger, a gospel choir appearing from nowhere to take the song up into the heavens.

‘Feel Like Going Home’ will be released almost exactly one year after her first album in 13 years, 2021's Our Country, and approximately six months following the Race Records EP. It’s a song she’s been performing live and feels a deep connection to.

“This is a southern rock style track that’s become my favourite song to perform recently”, Marks told us. “Musically it just has an amazing energy and sound. Lyrically, for me it’s about returning to my true self after trying to figure out who and how to be in the world and in the music industry. But I think it can speak to anyone who can relate to that feeling of wanting to get back home, back to self, back to the good and simple things that make us who we are at our core. Whenever we perform it, certain lines just resonate deep in my spirit as I sing them”.

Marks originally made her way to Nashville in 2003, playing CMA fest year after year and fully immersing herself in the country music community, but despite critical acclaim, she was never fully embraced by the industry. While her crowd of supporters grew year after year, so did efforts from the industry to diminish her success. She ultimately landed in California and focused on her family, never giving up on the dream she was devoted to.

Now she's back and blazing an unprecedented trail in the music industry. After a long overdue hiatus, she’s eager to spread not only her music, but a message of unity and outspokenness for Black musicians in country music and beyond.

‘Feel Like Going Home’ is released on March 25th. Marks is currently on tour supporting Tedeschi Trucks Band and Ron Pope and is playing major festivals throughout the summer.
