Up until the last few years, Hinterland Music Festival has remained in relative obscurity. One of Iowa's premiere festival events, it's drawn a sizable crowd year over year, yet remained more of a local treasure than an anticipated annual outing.
However, that all changed in 2023 as country megastar Zach Bryan descended onto the small town of Saint Charles, effectively putting the city and Hinterland Music Festival on the map.
Now becoming one of the best hidden gems in the festival universe, Hinterland is expected to return once again come August 2026.

2025 Highlights
For the event's highly-anticipated tenth anniversary in 2025, the beloved, music-filled weekend welcomed some of the biggest names from country, Americana and beyond, including tantalizing headlining sets from Kacey Musgraves, Lana Del Rey and Tyler, the Creator.
Elsewhere throughout the weekend, attendees were treated to appearances from The Marias, Clairo, Bleachers, Sierra Ferrell, Role Model, Wyatt Flores, Gigi Perez, Willow Avalon and more.
History
First launched in 2015 by Des Moines-baed concert promoter Sam Summers, Hinterland Music Festival offers a weekend of one-of-a-kind live music, camping, craft vendors and more.
Drawing upwards of 15,000 people each year, Hinterland has seen a wide range of superstars take the stage, including Brandi Carilie and Old Crow Medicine Show – who headlined the inaugural year – as well as Zach Bryan, Bon Iver, Maggie Rogers, Willie Nelson, Sturgill Simpson, Kacey Musgraves, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Tyler Childers, The Avett Brothers, Billy Strings, Phoebe Bridgers and a long list of others.
