After a raucous 2023 edition of the iHeart Country Music Festival, the genre's best and brightest are once again headed down to Moody Center in Austin, Texas on May 4.

Once again hosted by country's go-to comedian and radio personality, Bobby Bones, this year's event will be chock-full of performances from country-rap maverick Jelly Roll, country-rocker Jason Aldean, red-hot tunesmith Riley Green, award-winning band Old Dominion and more.

Also filling up the exciting day-long lineup will be celebrated trio Lady A, resident country badass Ashley McBryde, blistering brother duo Brothers Osborne and 'Fancy Like' hitmaker Walker Hayes.

There is no confirmation yet about the return of the Daytime Village, which ran from 12:30pm-4:30pm CT in 2023, and helped to ensure the crowd was well and truly hyped before the main event.

The 2023 iHeart Country Music Festival featured a stellar roster of performers, with the likes of Sam Hunt, Parker McCollum, Jordan Davis, Luke Bryan and more all taking the stage.

The festival returned to Austin, Texas in May for an unforgettable event, with attendees also getting the chance to witness a blistering set from country prodigy, Bailey Zimmerman, and ‘Never Wanted To Be That Girl’ hitmaker, Carly Pearce. 

Although the country music world was largely preoccupied with the 

 in the lead-up to the event, with the ceremony taking place the day before the iHeart Country Music Festival, this didn't dampen the sense of excitement felt by ticket-holders.

When you look at the landscape of country music, you'll mostly find good ole boys in cowboy hats or ball caps singing about trucks, beer, girls, heartbreak and, more than likely, a vague, off-the-grid backroad in some small, picturesque town.

What you wouldn't find, until the last few years, is Jelly Roll: a tatted-up rapper from middle Tennessee with a past that includes dozens of trips behind bars, drug dealing and more obstacles than we could ever think up.

Despite all of that, though, weaved throughout all of Jelly Roll's music is an unbreakable thread of hope, vulnerability and raw honesty that you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in the genre.

Born Jason DeFord, he was raised in Antioch, a neighborhood just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Coming up in a middle-lower class community as the youngest of four kids, he was witness to his mother's enduring mental health and addiction issues from a young age. Exposed to drug dealing and other hardships, he spent the better part of 12 years in and out of juvenile detention and jail systems, earning multiple counts of possession and attempted robbery, among other things.

Upon being released from jail, Jelly Roll admitted that he wasn't qualified to do much other than talking and singing, so he set his sights on music. He originally began his career in the hip-hop space as part of the group SNO and eventually waded into the rock scene, but now, he sits in the upper echelons of today's country music icons.

, Jelly Roll has been on the fast track to stardom. The genre-defying album included both his first No. 1 at rock radio, 'Dead Man Walking,' as well as his debut country single, 'Son of a Sinner,' which hit the peak at country radio in January of 2023.

Quickly checking off items on a new artist's country music check list, including making his Grand Ole Opry debut in November 2021, Jelly Roll successfully sold out Nashville's Bridgestone Arena in December 2022 and simply hasn't stopped since.

After stealing the show at the 2023 CMT Music Awards in May as a first-time nominee with three wins for the Male Video of the Year, Male Breakthrough Video of the Year and Digital-First Performance of the Year, Jelly Roll brought everything to a head this June with the release of his debut country album, 

, which features breakout single 'Need A Favor.'

Exploring themes of addiction, pain, struggle and redemption, Jelly Roll’s music combines southern-tinged rap beats with his soulful vocals, and it has proven to strike a chord with listeners far and wide.

As Jelly Roll continues to make his meteoric impact on country music, he will embark on his 44-city Backroad Baptism Tour this summer.

Ashley McBryde didn't wait for the Nashville majors to back her talent. She self-released her first album in 2006, before moving to Music City to focus exclusively on writing and performing country music. 

In her first few years in Nashville, McBryde won the Country Showdown in 2009 and 2010. 

She continued touring behind her music, and eventually released the EP 

 in 2016. One year later, Warner Bros. Records in Nashville released her single 'A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega'. 

McBryde co-wrote the song with Nicolette Hayford and Jesse Rice. It's about having the worst day but making the best of it. The song garnered critical attention, including from 

which named it as one of the 54 Best Songs of the Year. 

The single ended up on McBryde's 2018 debut studio album 

. Thanks to the popularity and critical success of the album, McBryde was named Female Vocalist of the Year at the ACMs and New Artist of the Year at the CMAs in 2019. Her debut album also earned a Best Country Album nomination at the Grammys. 

In 2020, she released her sophomore album 

. Once again, it was nominated for Best Country Album at the Grammys.

The country duo Brothers Osborne – John (guitar) and T.J. (vocals) – grew up playing music with their family, but that almost didn’t translate to a professional career. 

They both landed in Nashville after graduating high school two years apart, but they pursued other projects in an attempt to develop solo careers. But their power ultimately lay in playing together, and eventually they began performing as a duo at some of Nashville’s smaller venues. 

That push drew the attention of EMI Records Nashville, which signed John and T.J. in 2012. With that opportunity, they continued performing, releasing singles and recording a self-titled EP in 2014, all of which lead to their debut album Pawn Shop in 2016 and two big accolades. Thanks to John’s electrifying guitar playing and T.J.’s growling baritone, Brothers Osborne was named Vocal Duo of the Year by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association in 2016 and 2017.

Brothers Osborne followed their early critical success with 2018’s Port Saint Joe and 2020’s Skeletons, albums which showcased their penchant for blurring country with southern rock. 

In 2021, T.J. made headlines when he opened up to TIME Magazine about being gay. The announcement made him the first country artist signed to a major label to come out.

Riley Green is the flag-bearer for what some call ‘Lifestyle Country’, with the Alabama native infusing the muddy waters of the St. Johns River and the sandy brown soil of his hometown into every song he crafts.

Despite never hitting the top spot on the charts, Riley’s double-Platinum single, ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died’, has gone on to define the sound and themes that underpin Riley Green’s sonic DNA, with the legacy and wisdom of his grandfathers continuing to serve as key inspirations, most viscerally on ‘Numbers On The Cars’, ‘Behind The Times and ‘This Ain’t My Last Rodeo’.

This appreciation for former generations is mirrored by Riley Green’s frequent celebrations of a slower, less hectic way of life, with Riley widely known to be an avid outdoorsman.

Riley Green is a flag-bearer for ‘Lifestyle Country’, with one of the Alabama native's most visceral and frequently used muses being the front-porch wisdom of his grandfathers.

Kelley knew Haywood from middle school and convinced him to move to Nashville, where they began performing with Scott as Lady Antebellum. 

Their country-pop meets country-rock sound and tremendous harmonies landed them a contract and a self-titled debut album in 2008. Lady A began touring with Martina McBride, opening for the famed singer and building their fanbase. 

Their first album led to them winning New Artist of the Year at the CMAs in 2008 and later taking home the award for Vocal Group of the Year in 2009.  

From that early start, their output remained not just steady but almost non-stop. The group released five albums in five years: 

in 2021. Lady A were also inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2021. 

While Lady A had performed as Lady Antebellum for most of their career, they announced, in 2020, that they'd be changing their name to Lady A in response to the George Floyd protests and the racist connotations of "antebellum".

We've all heard about the qualms of breaking through in the music industry, as well as Nashville's infamous ten-year timeline. While there are plenty of stories of artists who have tried and failed, and several about the lucky few who have clawed their way to the spotlight, country music is also filled with stories of resilience.

One of those stories can be found as you pull back the layers of Walker Hayes.

Though his breakthrough moment came in 2021 with the release of his blockbuster single, 'Fancy Like,' his artistic journey dates all the way back to 2005 when he first rolled into Music City.

Raised in Mobile, Alabama as the youngest of nine kids, Hayes earned a music degree from Alabama's Birmingham-Southern College where he majored in piano. Though never intending to become a musician, Hayes' father encouraged him to try out performing, and after the artist bug bit, Hayes and his wife, Laney, were pulled to Nashville.

Hayes quickly landed a publishing deal and inked a record deal with Mercury before hopping over to Capitol Records, and his debut single, 'Pants,' came in 2010, reaching the 60th spot on 

's Hot Country Songs chart. A year later, his debut album, 

, produced little results apart from Hayes being dropped from the label.

In the years that followed, Hayes continued to write, eventually landing a publishing and production deal with Shane McAnally and SMACK/RareSpark in 2016.

Come 2017, after a long 6 years since his debut album, Hayes signed a deal with Monument Records, releasing his first single, 'You Broke Up With Me.' Marking his first top ten single, the now double-Platinum tune signaled Hayes' second chance at stardom and was followed by the release of his sophomore record, 

, which debuted at No. 6 on the Top Country Albums chart and peaked at No. 37 on the 

While the next few years saw a string of singles that never made their way onto the charts, everything came to a head for Hayes in 2021 with the Platinum-certified 'Fancy Like.'

The cornerstone of his third EP-turned-record, 

, the single became a viral hit and a career-defining moment for the singer-songwriter, reaching No. 3 on the 

 Hot 100 and No. 1 on both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, the former of which he topped for over 23 weeks.

Building his career on sounding completely different from everything else in the format, Hayes combines his speak-singing style with effortlessly catchy country pop sounds, culminating into one of the most unique voices in modern day country music.

It may have taken over ten years to get here, but Hayes' arrival at the forefront of the genre has been hard-earned and his legion of dedicated fans will continue to grow... and proudly do the 'Fancy Like' dance.
