Tucker Wetmore - 'Proving Me Right'

Official Release Date: December 5, 2025

Songwriters: Tucker Wetmore, Jessie Jo Dillon, Luke Laird & Chris Tompkins

Producer: Chris LaCorte & Luke Laird

The Background:

Serving as Tucker Wetmore's first solo release since his lauded debut album, What Not To, the rollout for ‘Proving Me Right’ was shrouded in conjecture, rumours and - as Dasha put it - “tea”. The track is speculated to be about Wetmore's ex, Bryana Ferringer, after she turned up to the CMA Awards with Riley Green. Ferringer starred in the music video for Wetmore's first big hit, ‘Wind Up Missin’ You’.

Of course, this could simply be fan-fuelled, but there's no question the timing of the release feels pointed. Regardless of who it's about, one thing's for sure - it's a certified bop.

The Sound:

‘Proving Me Right’ finds Wetmore doubling down on his trademark genre-blurring songwriting style, with the Washington native's sleek, polished vocals gliding across a synth-backed instrumental. At times, it carries the ambience of an ‘80s disco anthem, but Wetmore's penchant for R&B and Contemporary Pop ensures it still feels fresh. It once again showcases the country phenom's ear for a killer hook.

The Meaning:

The track is addressed to an ex, with the protagonist underlining that the worse she treats him after their break-up, the more it reinforces in his mind that he made the right decision.

As he underlines in the titular lyric, all of her “doin’ me wrong” is only “provin’ me right”. Shortly after it dropped, fans quickly started to try and decipher and decode any thinly veiled references to Ferringer's supposed romantic involvement with Green.

For instance, the line, “You want me to see you with him / Switchin' from red to crimson”, feels like a description of Ferringer showing up at the CMA Awards with Green - an event Wetmore was also attending. If you want to dive deeper, you could even infer that the “red to crimson” lyric is a nod to Green's home-state college football team, Alabama Crimson Tide - but this feels like a little more of a reach.

The line, “Find some guy with a song”, though, implies that the protagonist's ex looking for a new artist to link up with - another lyric that feels particularly eye-catching. The suggestion that his old flame is searching for another music star carries the implication that his ex is materialistic, and simply wants to be with someone famous.

“You got a way now don’t ya
Of getting’ just what you wanted
Don’t lie, don’t lie

-

You want me to see you with him
Switchin’ from red to crimson
Alright, alright

-

I was fallin’, you were just chasin’
Queen bee of the game that you’re playin’
Ain’t worth the whiskey I wasted
Yeah I’m just sayin’

-

Keep on doing me wrong now baby
‘Bout time they get to know you baby
Call me what you wanna but I ain’t pickin’ up tonight
Keep on puttin’ it on now baby
Find some guy with a song now baby
Go do what you wanna but all your doin’ me wrong
Is just proving me right

-

You’re leanin’ on his shoulder
I see you lookin’ over
At me, at me

-

My friends are saying that they saw you down in Seaside
Spillin’ your Rosé with a button undone on your Levis

-

Keep on doing me wrong now baby
‘Bout time they get to know you baby
Call me what you wanna but I ain’t pickin’ up tonight
Keep on puttin’ it on now baby
Find some guy with a song now baby
Go do what you wanna but all your doin’ me wrong
Is just proving me right

-

Go on do what you’re doin’
Girl you’re proving me right
Me right
Go on do what you’re doin
Girl you’re proving me right
Me right

-

Keep on doin’ me wrong now baby
‘Bout time they get to know you baby
Call me what you wanna but I ain’t pickin up tonight
Keep on puttin it on now baby
Find some guy with a song now baby
Go do what you wanna but all your doin me wrong
Is just proving me right

-

Go on do what you’re doin’
Girl you’re proving me right
Me right
Go on do what you’re doin’
Girl you’re proving me right
Me right
Go on do what you’re doin’
Girl you’re proving me right
Me right”
