Ashley Cooke’s live shows are standing out lately. Her ‘baby blues’ moment with a fan is helping create life-long memories, and now she’s adding in something else to bring more unique sparkle to each show.
During her performance at CMA Fest Presented by SoFi 2026 on the Riverfront Stage, Cooke paused her song ‘Xs’ to gift fans a little voicemail from friend and country music star, Megan Moroney.
“I wanted to make more of those ‘only can happen at this show’ type moments,” she tells Holler. “So I was like, I love ‘X's’, it’s fun, it’s cool…what if we did a hotline?”
Cooke initially launched this idea with fan contribution. At the start of the show, fans would leave a voicemail for their ex on Ashley Cooke’s Xs hotline, and she would play it halfway through the song over the speakers.
It’s playful, it’s unique and makes someone in the crowd feel extra special during that show.
However, if you can’t pull out all the stops at CMA Fest, then where can you…so Cooke started to enlist some country music help.
“I was like, what if I get my friends in country music to record voicemails about their exes?” the ‘your place’ crooner shares. “So Carly Pearce did one, Megan Moroney did one...”
Taking stock of where she’s at, the Florida native is on a mission to never take this life for granted.
“I don’t ever want to walk off a bus and play the same show and ever let it get monotonous,” she shares candidly. “I want to always have something different, a flavour of something new. These moments have become that for me and my band.”
Cooke is taking her baby blues world tour on the road in September this year alongside her sophomore, self-titled studio album, Ashley Cooke, which will be out on August 14th.
