Fan theories and rumours have been swirling after ‘COWBOY CARTER’ trucks and flags have been spotted at the Stagecoach grounds in Indio, California, with many believing this to be proof that Beyoncé will be performing at the festival this weekend.

Earlier in the week, Beyoncé - who released her debut full-length country album, COWBOY CARTER, in March - shared a series of photos of her atop a giant, ‘COWBOY CARTER’-emblazoned touring truck. Although some saw this as a hint at an impending world tour announcement, many now suspect these to be further indicators that Beyoncé is travelling into the California desert for Stagecoach Festival.

Initially, the rumours regarding Beyoncé's alleged Stagecoach set revolved around the mysterious inclusion of an artist named ‘Backwoods Barbie’ on the bill. This performer is due to deliver a lengthy set at Diplo's Honkytonk on Saturday night, with fans speculating that this could be a pseudonym for Beyoncé, given the minimal information online about any artists or DJs named ‘Backwoods Barbie’.

These fan-theories, however, were seemingly proven incorrect when the DJ Backwoods Barbie Instagram account shared a message to their stories underlining, “For everyone asking - This ain't Texas, ain't no hold ‘em, and I ain't Beyoncé”.

This hasn't deterred Beyoncé's ‘BeyHive’ fan-army, though, with some TikTok-based rumours now focussing on reports that security guards at Stagecoach have been confirming that the ‘TEXAS HOLD ‘EM’ hitmaker will be performing. These should perhaps be taken with a pinch of salt, as it's dubious whether they would have access to these details. We have reason to be skeptical, after the infamous incident where a security guard at Morgan Wallen's cancelled Oxford, Mississippi show last year told fans he was too drunk to perform, which was later shown to be false when Morgan revealed he'd suffered a vocal chord injury.

Nonetheless, the appearance of ‘COWBOY CARTER’ trucks parked on Indio's Empire Polo Club grounds and ‘COWBOY CARTER’ flags flying over Stagecoach are yet to be explained. They could, of course, simply be promotion for Beyoncé's new album, but many still believe the ‘16 CARRIAGES’ singer-songwriter will be making a surprise appearance at some point during the weekend.

Perhaps, for instance, she'll emerge during another artist's set for a special cameo. With a number of Beyoncé's COWBOY CARTER collaborators on the Stagecoach bill, including Post Malone (‘LEVII'S JEANS’), Willie Nelson (‘SMOKE HOUR’), Willie Jones (‘JUST FOR FUN’), Brittney Spencer and Tanner Adell (‘BLACKBIIRD’), these would all be candidates for a guest appearance from Queen Bey.

We'll be keeping a close watch throughout the Stagecoach weekend, with the three-day country music extravaganza sure to bring with it a slew of stellar sets, blockbuster moments and surprise collaborations - including, it seems, a potential live debut of Post Malone and Morgan Wallen's viral unreleased song, ‘I Had Some Help’.
