Colter Wall has shared that he will be stepping away from live music for an indefinite period, as the ‘Little Songs’ hitmaker takes time away to focus on his mental health.

Via a heartfelt social media post, Wall gets candid with fans, “Myself and the band and the crew are very grateful for the privilege to play music together for you. We thank you for it. The truth is that I am mentally unwell. Despite this, I have pushed myself to continue with touring. As a result my mental health has only further declined”.

He expands, “After discussions with my team, we have decided to cancel the remaining shows and take an indefinite hiatus from live music. Thank you for your understanding and support. Tickets will be refunded automatically from original point of purchase”.

The Canadian singer-songwriter was in the middle of his Memories and Empties Tour, with Wall having two dates lined up in Indianapolis this week, before the final stretch in Cincinnati and Detroit. Refunds are being issued for these shows.

Although fans heading to those concerts will undoubtedly disappointed, it's safe to say that their priority will simply be for Wall to work on his mental health and get better.

Touring takes a huge toll on artists, and it's encouraging to see many high-profile figures shining a light on that. Last year, for instance, Ella Langley announced she'd be taking some time away from her tour to prioritise her mental and physical health.

With Wall remaining one of the most influential figures in the traditional and alternative space, he has given a huge amount to the country music space over the past decade or so. We hope he takes as long as he needs before he's ready to get back in the saddle.
