Ella Langley has earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with her Lone Star State-inspired earworm, ’Choosin’ Texas’, taking the coveted top spot on this week's listing.

In doing so, the Alabama native becomes the first woman in history to have the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs chart and Country Airplay chart.

Towards the end of last week, Langley was locked in a closely fought battle with Olivia Dean for the coveted No. 1, with the latter's ‘The Man I Need’ vying for the pinnacle alongside ‘Choosin’ Texas’. It was neck and neck, with various commentators and chart analysts predicting Langley as the victor one day, and then Dean the next.

Ultimately, though, Langley has triumphed, marking a colossal milestone for the ‘nicotine’ hitmaker's personal journey, as well as a key moment for women in country as a whole.

As this week's tracking period began to close, Langley made a heartfelt appeal to fans to help her get over the line, with the country trailblazer also temporarily discounting ‘Choosin’ Texas’ on iTunes in a bid to give the song a last-minute boost.

Langley began, “Y'all have put me in a position to do something only a few females in country music history have ever done. I'm being told we're neck and neck on getting the #1 and if we have one last push on ITunes we might make country music history!”

The ‘paint the town blue’ singer-songwriter went on, “Less than 10 women [sic] in country music have gotten #1 on Billboard”, before sharing a photo of her and Miranda Lambert - who penned ‘Choosin’ Texas’ with Langley, Joy Beth Taylor and Luke Dick - sharing a fond hug, declaring, “I know we can do it”. Langley concluded with an inspiring message, “Let's do it for women & let's do it for country music”.

Well, it was certainly all worth it, with Langley's ‘Choosin’ Texas’ crowned the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 for the period dated February 14th, 2026. Dean's ‘The Man I Need’ slots in at No. 2, with Alex Warren's ‘Ordinary’ completing the Top 3.

It ensures the momentum remains sky-high ahead of Langley's keenly anticipated new album, Dandelion, which drops on April 10th. It seems Langley is not leaving much time to dwell on the success of ’Choosin‘ Texas’, with the three-time 2025 CMA Award-winner today (February 9th) sharing a new snippet of an unreleased song, ’Be Her’, which is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
