Austin Snell has captured a moment he'll remember for the rest of his life in the heartwarming new music video for ’Colors’, which we're proudly premiering exclusively at Holler.

The striking visuals open with a mysterious declaration: “My girlfriend thinks she is acting in my music video today”. Then, we get endearing clips of Snell and his long-time partner Ally Klein interspersed with atmospheric shots of an old church.

Then, as the video approaches its conclusion and Snell admits that his heart is racing, we see the couple stood in front of the church, before Klein gasps as Snell drops to one knee.

It's hard to think of a better way of announcing their engagement to the world, with Snell and Klein now having this cinematic video as a memento of their moving proposal.

Snell explains to Holler that ‘Colors’ was the perfect song-choice to soundtrack the proposal, with the Georgia native penning the track especially for Klein. It's a vulnerable reflection on mental health in relationships, with the ‘You Being You’ singer-songwriter underlining that he wants Klein to feel comfortable showing him all her “colors”.

The song is underpinned by a cri-de-coeur that will no doubt resonate with numerous couples, and will hopefully serve as an uplifting message of encouragement to those finding it difficult to open up about their mental health with their partner.

Snell reflects on the inspiration behind the evocative song, “I wrote this song directly to Ally a while back and always knew it felt like something bigger than just another love song. I’ve written her a couple songs in the past, but they’ve always felt too “polished” for us. Our mental health has always been something we’ve focused on and struggled with at points. And I just wanted to write her a song that felt real. But also, just tell her I’m going to be here regardless of highs and lows”.

The fast-emerging artist adds, “As for the engagement, I don’t think there is any other way that would make more sense than doing it in a song I wrote for the love of my life”.

‘Colors’ arrives as the title-track from Snell's brand new EP, which finds the self-professed “grunge-country” artist exploring a more intimate, introspective side to his sound. In the lead-up to the project's release, Snell revealed via social media that he had grown tired of seeing sleek but superficial music in country, and that he wanted to document his struggles and challenges with a newfound rawness.

That undoubtedly radiates throughout Colors, with the fact that he has chosen to share this heartfelt proposal to his now-fiancée, Klein, with his fans epitomising his determination to kick off this new chapter on a note of deep honesty and candour.

It's an exciting next step from the up-and-comer - both in his personal and professional life - and we're desperately hoping he soon builds out this EP into a full-blown studio album.
