At first glance, Jelly Roll and WWE might seem like an unlikely pairing. One is a genre-defying country star with emotional depth and the other, a world of suplexes and faux storylines.
Yet, if you’ve followed Jelly Roll’s career, or better yet, his heart–it actually makes perfect sense. He’s always been a standalone figure, fueled by redemption arcs and raw vulnerability, not unlike the faces of WWE.
Now, he’s a wrestling storyline regular, entering the ring to become one of the most entertaining and sincere moves of 2024 and 2025. What started as a cameo has evolved into a full-fledged saga, blending music and mayhem in true wrestling fashion.
Jelly Roll’s first major splash into the ring came at SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio. Not content with just performing his hit song 'Liar,' he took a seat at the commentary table, then leaped into the action.
Teaming up with The Miz and R-Truth, he swung a folding chair at Austin Theory and delivered a chokeslam straight out of a childhood fantasy. Even John Cena praised him afterward, calling Jelly a “great option” for future WWE appearances.
That moment was transformative; a career-high pivot that turned Jelly from performer to participant and showed he was willing to play in WWE’s world of the ring.
Fast forward to July 2025, and Jelly is no longer a one-off spectacle.
On Smackdown, he was back to perform 'Liar' again–this time in Nashville–when Logan Paul crashed his segment, publicly mocking his place in the WWE universe.
Jelly snapped back, defending his hometown with a line sharing his true pride of his city: “This is my hometown… down here, nobody gives a damn about your podcast, Logan.”
The moment quickly escalated where WWE legend Randy Orton stormed the ring in support, but Drew McIntyre blindsided Orton with a kick, punching Jelly’s storyline momentum, too. Paul retaliated by trashing Jelly’s gear, while Jelly defended Orton, sending the feud into full swing and truly cementing Jelly’s role as a key ally and in-ring asset.
All signs are pointing toward a big WWE moment at SummerSlam 2025 on August 2 and 3 at New Jersey's Metlife Stadium. Reports now confirm that Orton and Jelly Roll will pair up to fight Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul.
Jelly Roll’s WWE journey has been equal parts eclectic and earnest, from delivering performances to trading jabs with social-media phenoms to now gearing up for one of WWE’s biggest events of the year.
For fans wondering if the singer can cut it in WWE, he’s already in and earned his spot it seems, and we are excited to see how much further this side quest can go.
