Kane Brown spoke with Elaina Smith recently on the Backstage Country Uncut podcast, talking all about his upcoming collaboration with Shania Twain.

Shania Twain’s iconic ‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?’ is an upbeat ditty about her unfaithful partner playing away. Originally written as a heartbreak ballad, Twain changed her mind and released the catchy fiddle-fuelled version in 1995. Now, over 30 years later, it seems there’s another version in the works.

“It’s the guy’s version,” Brown shares with Smith as he introduces the idea of this previously unknown project. “It’s not the same sound,” he goes on, “it’s some of her same melodies but then a whole different thing…you’re getting a completely different new song.”

The ‘Gorgeous’ crooner has recently been teasing the release of his next album. The project was supposed to be out earlier this summer but Brown spoke about how he’s pushed back the release to work on the concept and purpose behind the songs. It’s unclear if this project will feature on the album, but from the sounds of it, it’s not quite finished.

“She’s been working on her vocals,” Brown shared when Smith asked if it was a collaboration, “I haven’t heard it yet so I don’t know…I wouldn’t necessarily say she has a verse.”

Make no mistake, though, the Country music legend will add her stamp to the track. “It’s originally her song,” Brown says, “you’re gonna know Shania’s there.”

Just as he was about to leave, Brown was stopped and told that Shania Twain was trying to get hold of him. Brown went and hung out with her, discovering that she’d heard the demo and was happy to give her blessing to use her original song, kicking the project into motion.

The full episode with Kane Brown drops this Friday, 28th August. We’ll for sure be locked in to see what other gems Brown has up his sleeve.
