Just before his Grand Ole Opry induction, Rhett Akins revealed the advice he has for Ella Langley, and dives into the career-changing nature of having a hit song.

In an interview with Music Mayhem Magazine, Rhett Akins mentioned he and the 'Choosin Texas' hitmaker herself played Cabo together back in 2024. Then, Langley was hot on the heels of a complete career-turnaround and didn't even know it.

Akins revealed that Langley had approached the 'That Ain't My Truck' crooner and asked if he would meet with her for lunch once the two returned to Nashville. She hoped to pick the 'She Said Yes' songster's brain and gain some insight on how to get over the awkward hump many artists experience when it seems none of their efforts are getting them to that break-through moment.

Akins said that eight days after the conversation, Ella Langley and Riley Green's hit 'you look like you love me' was released, which was a song so big that it catapulted Langley's career right in that break-through direction she prayed for. Akins humorously quipped, "We ain't had lunch at all."

"That's proof that a hit song trumps everything," said Akins. "You think you got problems? Get a hit song and you ain't got no problems."

The Grand Ole Opry's most recent inductee notes that he was excited to meet with Langley and see what advice he could give to the former up-and-comer, while using the opportunity to voice what he would tell her now.

"So, Ella, here's my advice: keep writing hit songs, don't worry about me," said Akins.

Akins, also known as a 90s country hitmaker and country star Thomas Rhett's father, has his fair share of experiences with hit songs. Though he only received the opportunity to pass down his words of wisdom just a few years later, the advice still stands true: a hit song is often the one thing standing in between an artist with immense potential and their breakout moment.
