We've always known Kenny Chesney to be a bonafide hitmaker, but the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) just solidified that fact tenfold.
The 'I Go Back' star was recently recognized as having earned 105 million certified units, including 22 new certifications across his lengthy catalogue.
According to the association's sales and streaming metrics, his anthem, 'American Kids', and his bleary-eyed ballad, 'You and Tequila', featuring Grace Potter, have garnered 5-time and 4-time Platinum statuses, respectively.
Five more of the artist's songs, including 'Summertime', 'When The Sun Goes Down', Come Over', 'Don’t Blink' and 'Get Along', have received triple-Platinum certifications.
Other tracks, like 'I Go Back', 'No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems', 'All The Pretty Girls', 'The Good Stuff' and 'The Boys of Fall', can now boast double-Platinum certifications, alongside 'There Goes My Life', 'Setting The World on Fire' and 'She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy'.
Five new Platinum certifications and three new Gold certifications also contribute to his 51 RIAA-certified singles.
“These kinds of numbers almost don’t exist," the star said of the many honors in an announcement posted to his official website. "Who counts that high? But seeing all the discs and the size of the plaque, it hits you how big this really is."
In his statement, he went on to explain that it's not the numbers but the fans that matter most to him.
“What I know is what I hear when the band and I are on stage," he shared. "You can tell when you hear people cheering and singing these songs with every bit of joy they’ve got, this isn’t just a song they like, these songs are something that hits them in the heart. To me, even more than Platinum or Gold, it’s the sound of those voices that tells me how much this music means.”
