Lainey Wilson has a lot to be thankful for. After picking up three awards at the 59th CMA Awards last week for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for Whirlwind, she is also nominated for three awards at the 68th Grammy Awards for Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for 'Trailblazer' along with Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert.

There's nowhere better to give thanks for all that than in an enormous dazzling parade through the heart of New York City on Thanksgiving Day.

After Dasha thrilled the crowds lining the streets of New York City last year, Lainey joined the giant balloons and spectacular floats during this year's 99th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday 27 November. She serenaded viewers with stellar performances of ‘Somewhere Over Laredo’ and ‘Peace, Love & Cowboys’, two stand-outs from Wilson's Whirlwind (Deluxe) studio album.

After being spotted rehearsing earlier in the week on the Glitzy Bella Instagram, the 'Somewhere Over Laredo' singer performed live in front of Herald Square as she capped off her sold-out Whirlwind World Tour and followed Wicked: For Good star Cynthia Erivo in the parade, who opened the broadcast.

"It’s a DREAM!!" the brand shared on their Instagram. "Lainey Wilson brought the glam to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade rehearsal—wrapped in a Glitzy Bella vintage fur and wool coat ❤️ A timeless piece for an unforgettable performance!"

Wilson had previously shared a few more details about her performance on the iconic 34th Street in front of Macy’s flagship store while chatting with Bobby Bones on The Bobby Bones Show, revealing the one thing she planned not to do was lip sync.

“I have not been to the Macy’s Day Parade. I am not trying to lip sync. I am not trying to do that,” she shared.

This isn’t Wilson’s first time performing on Thanksgiving. Last year, she performed at half time at the Dallas Cowboys game, but this time she's bringing country music to New York City.

“It’s a huge deal. Country has come to town — we’re here in New York City. This is a big bucket list moment for me and my crew,” she shared. “I’m originally from Louisiana, and I remember me and my family being around the TV watching the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parades. So it’s a big deal to be here.”

Elsewhere on the bill were Ciara, Calum Scott, Colbie Caillat, Russell Dickerson, Darlene Love, Busta Rhymes, Lauren Spencer Smith, and Hamilton alum Christopher Jackson. Plus a real treat for fans of K-pop Demon Hunter, particularly Huntrix, with EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, the singing voices behind HUNTR//X, also joining the parade.

The parade begins at 8:30 am Eastern Time, setting off from West 77th Street and Central Park West. From there, it travels 2.5 miles through Manhattan, finishing up at Macy's Herald Square at midday.

Crowds begin gathering as early as 6 am, so arriving early is essential if you want a prime viewing spot. According to our little helpers, the best areas to watch the parade from are Central Park West from West 75th to West 63rd Street, the south side of West 59th Street between Columbus Circle and Sixth Avenue and Sixth Avenue from West 59th to West 38th Streets. But if you want to catch Lainey, she'll be at Herald Square in front of Macy's.

Lainey Wilson’s holiday EP, Peace, Love, & Cowboys (Holiday Edition)also gets a physical release on 12-inch vinyl, 7-inch vinyl and CD. The project consists of 'Peace, Love, & Cowboys (Holiday Edition)' and 'Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!' with Bing Crosby, as well as instrumental versions of both tracks.
