Megan Moroney has surprised listeners by dropping a new cover of Toby Keith's iconic 2002 anthem, ‘Who's Your Daddy?’, today (Tuesday, July 1st) as an Apple Music exclusive.
The track arrives as part of the streaming giant's popular Sessions series, with fans hoping this is the first song from a full-blown Apple Music Sessions EP from the Georgia native. In recent months, we've seen similar EPs from Lainey Wilson
As her latest original single, ‘6 Months Later’, showcases, Megan Moroney has a welcome penchant for infusing humour and playfulness into her music. As a result, Moroney is able to lean into the tongue-in-cheek ambience permeating ‘Who's Your Daddy?’
It's a stellar cover, with Moroney's laidback, conversational croons combining with the energising, electric-guitar-fuelled instrumental to make this an infectious new offering.
The ’Tennessee Orange’ hitmaker is currently gearing up to release her keenly awaited third studio album, which is set to feature ‘6 Months Later’ and Moroney's blockbuster, galvanising collaboration with Kenny Chesney, ‘You Had To Be There’.
With Moroney cementing herself as one of the biggest names in the modern country landscape over the past year or so, the ’Indifferent’ singer-songwriter's new record is already shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated projects of 2025.
In addition, we've also been treated to new Apple Music Sessions releases from Riley Green, Ella Langley, Parker McCollum, Ashley McBryde and Tucker Wetmore, with each artist sharing a heartwarming cover of Toby Keith in tribute to the late country icon.
Riley Green has shared a wistful, uptempo take on ‘Should've Been a Cowboy’, with the Alabama native often covering the beloved track during his live shows. Green regularly pays homage to how significant an influence Toby Keith has had on his sound.
Parker McCollum has offered a sleek, undulating cover of Keith's ‘Who's That Man’, while Ashley McBryde has brought her rock-infused style to ‘A Little Less Talk and A Lot More Action’. Ella Langley has provided a vocal masterclass on ‘Wish I Didn't Know Now’, with the 2025 New Female Artist of the Year wrapping her gentle rasp across the 1993 ode for one of the more pared-down gems in this collection.
Similarly, Tucker Wetmore has delivered a sumptuously traditional-leaning performance of ’As Good As I Once Was’, which remains one of Toby Keith's most celebrated hits.
The track originally appeared on Oklahoma titan's acclaimed 2005 album, Honkytonk University, and quickly surged to the pinnacle of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Although Apple Music is yet to officially announce the intention behind this newly shared selection of Toby Keith covers, it seems they've been released in honour of what would have been the ‘How Do You Like Me Now?!’ chart-topper's 64th birthday on July 8th. Keith passed away on February 5th, 2024 at the age of 62.

“Ooh, alright
-
Yeah, here you come knockin' on my door, baby
Tell me what you got on your mind
I guess those college boys all went home for the summertime
-
Yeah, you're lookin' right, lookin' good
Lookin' like a woman should
So why is it so hard to find
A place to lay your pretty little head down once in a while
-
You run on a little tough luck, baby
Don't you sweat it
Everything is waiting inside for you
You know I got it
Come and get it
-
Who's your daddy, who's your baby?
Who's your buddy, who's your friend?
-
And who's the one guy that you come runnin' to
When your love life starts tumblin'?
I got the money if you got the honey
Let's cut a deal, let's make a plan
-
Who's your daddy, who's your baby?
Who's your buddy, who's your man?
-
You might've run on a little tough luck, baby, did you?
Don't you sweat it
Everything is waiting inside for you
You know I got it
So come and get it
-
Who's your daddy, who's your baby?
Who's your buddy, yeah, who's your friend?
-
And who's the one guy that you come runnin' to
When your love life starts tumblin'?
I got the money, you got the honey
Let's cut a deal, let's make a plan
-
Who's your daddy, who's your baby?
Who's your buddy, who's your man?
-
Who's your daddy, who's your baby?
Who's your buddy, who's your man?”
