We think Luke Combs doesn't get the credit he deserves for not only being one of the biggest country superstars on the planet, but for also having a fantastic sense of humour.
It doesn't always come across in his music, with the North Carolina native leaning towards either rowdy, beers-in-the-air anthems or stripped-back, heart-on-his-sleeve ballads. But Combs has been making more of an effort to showcase his funny bone on socials of late, with a recent exchange with JJ Watts epitomising this.
It all started when Combs announced to fans via X that he was contemplating “crowd-sourcing” his new album, musing, “Seriously considering “Crowd Sourcing” my next record. Like just put up a bunch of demos and worktapes to see what y’all like best”.

This would certainly be a fascinating approach. The ‘Ain't No Love in Oklahoma’ hitmaker has enjoys offering fans sneak peeks at his songs when they're still a work in progress, so a “crowd-sourcing” strategy would feel like a natural extension of this.
Hilariously, former NFL star JJ Watts seemingly got the wrong end of the stick initially, replying to Combs, “I first read this as “seriously considering crowd surfing”. The ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ chart-topper quipped, “That'd be all good for nobody”.

It's safe to say that a lot of fans are now curious to see Luke Combs actually crowd-surfing at a forthcoming show. Crowd-surfing doesn't necessarily lend itself to a country show, but hey, with the riotous, untethered vibe that permeates many of Combs’ more galvanising, electric-guitar-fuelled tracks, you just never know.
Either way, the excitement is sky-high ahead of Combs’ Fathers & Sons follow-up album, particularly after the stellar teasers we've been getting so far, such as the honky-tonkin’ gem, ‘My Kinda Saturday Night’, and the new single, ‘Back in the Saddle’.
