“He's a Great Guy and a Tremendous Entertainer”: Mattress Mack Shares the Story of How He Ended Up Doing Morgan Wallen's NRG Stadium Walkout

After being invited by Morgan Wallen to join him for the first walk-out of his 2025 I'm the Problem Tour in Houston, Texas, local business tycoon Mattress Mack has explained how his surprise link-up with the Sneedville megastar came about.

Mattress Mack - whose real name is John McIngvale - has become a Houston legend in recent years, courtesy of his Gallery Furniture chain and his high-stakes betting habits.

Mattress Mack walked out with both Morgan Wallen and Houston Texans’ Andre Johnson at the NRG Stadium on Friday night (June 20th), with Mack greeting Wallen partway through his now-iconic pre-show routine with a suitcase of money. This was an homage to his $10 million bet and subsequent $75million winnings after betting on the Houston Astros to triumph in the World Series in 2022.

In a new social media clip, Mattress Mack has shared the story behind his unexpected cameo at Morgan Wallen's Houston show, “I got a call from my friend Kyle at Houston Astros on Tuesday. He said, ‘Friday night, do you want to do a walk out with Morgan Wallen at the NRG Stadium at his concert?’ I said, ‘Well, who wouldn't?’”

He expanded, “So they were nice enough to give me some tickets. I went down there with my granddaughter, Sydney, and her friend Marki. We had great seats on the floor. Watched the opening act, was terrific. [Now] it's time to go back and meet Morgan”.

Mattress Mack then outlined why he decided to bring the suitcase, “So we went back there, and I had a suitcase full of prop money, just like the suitcase full of real money we had when we won the big bet on the Astros in 2022 against the Phillies. Here came Morgan with the great Texan player, Andre Johnson. So I showed him the prop money. He thought that was funny, and then we talked a little bit. Walked on, he went on the stage, and then he just knocked the show out”.

The beloved Houston figure concluded by paying tribute to Morgan Wallen, “What really impressed me was the way he played to every member of the audience. The guy is just terrific. What a great entertainer. I think all 60-70,000 people at NRG had a terrific time. Hats off to Morgan. He's a great guy and a tremendous entertainer. Was really an honor to walk out with him and the great Andre Johnson”.

In the caption to the newly uploaded social media video, Mattress Mack endearingly gushed, “Thank You @morganwallen - Thank You God 🙏 Thank You 🤘ouston ❤️”.

During his electric performance, Morgan Wallen expressed his gratitude to Mack and Johnson for joining him, “I appreciate you choosing to spend your Friday night here with me at NRG Stadium. Before I get any further, I’d just like to say shout out to Andre Johnson and Mattress Mack for doing my walk out with me – a couple of Houston legends, and I appreciate that. I appreciate you guys for giving me such a warm welcome, I can already tell we’re going to have a good time”.

The following night, Morgan Wallen walked out with Houston Astros pitcher Roger Clemons and rap phenom Drake, with the anticipation sky-high as fans speculate as to who Wallen will be flanked by for this week's Camp Randall Stadium double-header.
