We did it!
After months of easter eggs and cryptic clues, Megan Moroney has finally gifted us the news we've been waiting for. The ‘Tennessee Orange’ singer-songwriter has revealed she'll be dropping her brand new album, Cloud 9, on February 20th, 2026.
In an official statement, Moroney offers fans a sneak preview as to what they can expect from the highly anticipated project, confirming what she'd suggested in previous interviews about this being a more joyful record, “I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together. Similar to the first two albums, it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet”.
The Georgia native has also unveiled the official artwork, which features Moroney climbing up a ladder to the heavens, as she's surrounded by dreamy pink clouds. The visuals - which were crafted by Moroney's Art & Creative Director, Cece Dawson, and photographer, Amber Asaly - inventively fuse Moroney's dress into the clouds, with a hopeful patch of blue sky opening up in the distance.

We'd long suspected Moroney's next album would be titled Cloud 9, with the ‘Am I Okay?’ hitmaker sprinkling cloud imagery across her socials, as well as referencing the number 9 in a flurry of captions. Over the weekend, when Moroney shared a teaser video of her transitioning from the blue of Am I Okay? into the pink of her next era, she again hinted that clouds would be pivotal to this new chapter.
Then, yesterday, the plot thickened when Moroney shared a mysterious countdown on her website, along with a password-protected clue. Eventually, after a number of attempts from loyal fans, someone figured out that it was ‘ITS9LONGW9YDOWN’.
Once you entered this, you were greeted by the windows from Moroney's pink-to-blue teaser video, which opened when clicked to the sound of an unreleased song snippet.
Judging by the weather-themed lyrics, this could be a clip of the title-track for this next project. Also, given Moroney's password-choice and the fact that the same phrase - ‘It's a Long Way Down’ - also appears in the ‘Six Months Later’ music video, we're assuming this is either a line from the title-track or another song-name.
Either way, new music from Moroney is cause for celebration, especially given how long we've been awaiting official news regarding the country phenom's third studio album.
With ‘You Had To Be There’ with Kenny Chesney, ‘Beautiful Things’ and ’Six Months Later’ all set to appear on the forthcoming project, we're keeping our fingers crossed Moroney treats us to another single or two from Cloud 9 before the year is out...
