Morgan Wallen Pays Tribute To Brooks And Dunn: "They've Done So Much For This Genre"

Morgan Wallen is one of country music's most influential boundary pushers, blending sounds from his influences into his version of modern country. The Sneedville native has been vocal about curating his music with elements of rap, hip hop, trap beats and country styles, but one that stands out is his love for 90s legends, Brooks and Dunn.

The 'Last Night' singer has now honoured the iconic duo on his Morgan Wallen radio show, calling them “absolute legends”.

Wallen’s relationship with Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn goes back to his childhood, with him often citing them as some of his inspiration in music.

Fast forward to 2024, and the pair joined Wallen for his now-infamous pre-show walkout, where they live-debuted their collaboration on 'Neon Moon.' The song later appeared on Brooks and Dunn's Reboot II album, which featured Wallen.

“Brooks and Dunn, absolute legends,” Wallen exclaimed as he played the track on his radio station. “ [They] played my Sand In My Boots [festival] last year, have opened for me for quite a few shows which is still unbelievable for me to say.”

The country music legends joined Wallen on dates throughout both his 2025 I’m The Problem Tour and 2026 Still The Problem Tour, even sharing the stage for a couple songs on numerous occasions, too.

On their first night opening in Miami, the pair later joined Wallen on stage for 'Whiskey Glasses', where Ronnie Dunn famously had his lyric cheat sheet on stage.

He later posted a video on social media captioned, “Hell, I’m still learnin’ NEON MOON :) Love WHISKEY GLASSES… be patient… RD”. Iconic.

Wallen goes on to say, “I always want to give them their flowers. They have done so much for this genre and for music as a whole. Shout out to them”.

The adoration is reciprocated, with the pair outwardly backing Wallen for a while. In an interview with Wide Open Country in 2024, Ronnie Dunn shared, “Wallen couldn’t be any nicer. He’s one of the guys. That’s it.”

Brooks and Dunn have just been announced to headline Two Step Inn at San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, TX on April 17th, 2027, one of the largest country music festivals of the season. Wallen’s tour schedule has wrapped up for now, but that just means the door is of course open for new announcements…
