During a new interview with People at Sports Illustrated and Tight End University's Tight Ends & Friends Concert at The Pinnacle in Nashville, Nate Smith has reflected on his weight loss journey and the key lifestyle changes that have helped him.

Smith has always been open with his fans about the various struggles and challenges he has faced throughout his career, with the ‘World On Fire’ singer-songwriter regularly checking in with followers and touching on his mental health via social media.

While chatting to People, Smith explains, “I think I want to get under 200 lbs. So I was like 275 lbs., somewhere in that world. But I want to get down to like 185 lbs. again”.

Elsewhere during the conversation at the Reeses-sponsored event, the California native stressed that his primary objective in losing weight is to ensure is can put on the best show possible for ticket-holders, “Keeping the energy on stage and making sure I do that, because I think that takes care of the fans”.

He added that he also wants to feel good in what he's wearing, “I just feel better. It's nice to be able to wear clothes that I like”, pointing to the outfit he wore for Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen's Tight Ends & Friends Concert, “This is a large...I've been double X for the last five or six years, so I'm feeling really good”.

The ‘Whiskey On You’ chart-topper adds, “I don't sweat anymore, which is amazing...I used to be totally out of breath tying my shoes...I can jump around a lot more”.

As for the instrumental day-to-day habits he has been adopting as he strives to maintain a healthier lifestyle, Smith touches on how he was overeating and over-drinking, “I knew I was hurting myself, but I couldn't stop. It was like looking at this mountain and wondering, ‘How do I get up there?' I didn't even know where to start”.

It was when he came down with a severe upper respiratory infection in November 2024 that he was inspired to do some bigger picture thinking. Ultimately, after battling that condition, Smith decided to adopt a more balanced lifestyle. And judging by his latest comments and how happy the country hitmaker thankfully appears now, it certainly seems Smith is not looking back. Smith is currently gearing up to release a new single, ‘Find Me in a Bar’, on July 17th.
