Noah Kahan has stopped by the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge for an intimate performance of ’Porch Light’, as well as a stirring cover of Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's ’Rein Me In’.

Kahan and Fender have been buddies for a while, with the artists regularly paying tribute to one another via socials. They famously joined forces for a reimagined rendition of Kahan's Stick Season stand-out, ‘Homesick’, back in January 2024, with Fender even introducing his own verse reflecting on his upbringing in Newcastle.

’Rein Me In’ has already established itself as one of the biggest UK hits of the past year, following the release of the duet version last summer, with the track winning the prestigious 2026 Brit Award for Song of the Year. Much like Kahan originally dropping ‘Homesick’ as a solo offering, Fender initially recorded ‘Rein Me In’ by himself as part of his celebrated third studio album, People Watching, in early 2025.

Kahan's Live Lounge version captures the intensity and fervour that underpins Fender and Dean's original, while giving the track a slightly more delicate, pared-down feel. As always, Kahan's rich vocals are undoubtedly impressive throughout his performance of ’Rein Me In’, but really shine when he delivers his own track, ’Porch Light’.

The haunting, visceral song - which appears on the Vermont native's new album, The Great Divide - finds Kahan reflecting on his fame from the perspective of his mother.

It serves as Kahan's second appearance on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, following his stellar cover of Olivia Rodrigo's ’lacy’ and his moving performance of ‘Stick Season’ back in 2023.

The newly shared videos ensure the anticipation remains sky-high ahead of the ’Northern Attitude’ singer-songwriter's next record, The Great Divide, which arrives on April 24th.
