It seems it's nearly time for Shaboozey's follow-up to 2024's Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, with the ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ hitmaker taking to social media to tease new music.
It's been the best part of two years since we got a full-length studio album from the genre-blurring maverick, with Shaboozey keeping fans fed in the meantime by tagging on a few extra tracks to Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going last year - including his momentous, GRAMMY-winning Jelly Roll collaboration, ‘Amen’.
But given how rich, evocative and visceral the original studio album was, we'd be lying if we said we hadn't been feeling a yearning to hear another full body of work from Shaboozey.
Thankfully, it looks like we won't have to wait too much longer. Fresh off his GRAMMY success, the foundation has been laid and the timing feels perfect for a brand new rollout.
Shaboozey has shared a flurry of clips from the studio, showing the ‘Good News’ singer-songwriter working on his next album, with the caption, “They Say Horses Don't Stop...” Aptly, he shared this on the first day of the Lunar New Year - and 2026 is the Year of the Horse, with Shaboozey nodding to this on his Instagram Stories. Shaboozey's long-time producer and co-writer, Nevin Sastry, has added to the buzz in the comments section, declaring that it's “Time to ride!!!”
Last year, Shaboozey spoke to Holler about the prospect of new music, explaining that his ‘All Men Die’ freestyle is a good indicator as to what his next project will sound like.
Shaboozey told Holler, “It was kind of like ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ - it was the last song I made on a project that was supposed to be turned in and submitted. I think ‘All Men Die’ is a great song that just shows where I would like to sit. You know, I always talk about the similarities between the themes of modern Hip-Hop and old outlaw country music, and I think ‘All Men Die’ does a great job of bridging and tying those worlds together in a way that feels like, is it Hip-Hop, or is it a murder ballad, or a ballad about an outlaw who betrayed their brotherhood, gang or posse?...I think ‘All Men Die’ is going to hint at my future music, honestly”.
In December, Shaboozey appeared to hint the new album was finished, sharing, “Can’t wait to drop this album!” In his 2025 recap post, he confirmed the project will drop in 2026.
With Shaboozey also teasing a potential collaboration with SZA last November, it's safe to say the excitement is sky-high ahead of this next era in the Virginia native's storied career.
As much as we love ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ - and we really love that track - we always felt the real gems and masterpieces were nestled unassumingly on Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, with Shaboozey crafting vibrant sonic worlds on each of his albums so far. We certainly can't wait to hear what the next one sounds like.
