Stella Lefty has responded after an old video started circulating online of the ‘Thinking ‘bout You’ crooner saying she doesn’t “stan Olivia Rodrigo” and “f*** you” to the pop phenom.

The video, which Lefty posted in 2022, finds the ‘Boston’ hitmaker wading into the Rodrigo vs Sabrina Carpenter rivalry at the time, with Carpenter’s ‘because I liked a boy’ playing over the clip. The song was widely seen as a response to Rodrigo's ‘driver's license’.

On one of Lefty's recent TikTok posts, when a fan commented with a screenshot of that 2022 video, Lefty has replied by clearing up that the clip wasn’t intended as anything serious and she meant no harm, “i was a stupid teenager posting random things on social media. i love olivia and never meant anything harmful by that”.

Rather than an affront from Lefty, this feels like the latest in a frustratingly long series of attempts from fans online to discredit the ‘I Know I Know’ singer-songwriter’s rise.

There are the constant comments about Lefty’s father being the billionaire founder of Groupon and the relentless accusations of being a “nepo-baby”, along with the belittling of ‘Boston’s success due to the supposed likeness to Noah Kahan’s ‘Stick Season’.

Rather than talking about an old clip of Lefty’s that was clearly not meant to be taken seriously, we’d much rather be discussing the Illionois native’s newly released debut album, Long Way Home, which features an impressive array of country-folk earworms.

Although it seems Rodrigo fans won’t be letting this one go anytime soon, and we’re sure the “nepo-baby” narrative will rage on for a while longer - as Gracie Abrams unfortunately found out - we can only hope that Lefty continues to silence her critics with her stellar pen.
