Rarely have album artworks encapsulated the spirit of a record as accurately and as viscerally as The Droptines’ visuals for Drought Flower, the band's debut record with Big Loud Texas. The eagerly awaited project arrives today (Friday, April 3rd).

Against a barren, hostile landscape, a bush erupts into flames that mirror the violent orange of the sunset-adorned sky, creating an immediate feeling of turmoil and chaos.

The project finds the five-piece striking a powerful balance between Americana grit and Southern Rock angst, with Conner Arthur's gravelly, atmospheric vocals combining with dramatic electric guitars and driving, undulating drum patterns throughout.

Speaking ahead of the album's release, Arthur stresses how special this body of work is to the band, “Our album Drought Flower is the culmination of a lot of hard work from the guys and me. It will be our first big release since being signed to Big Loud Texas and we're all very excited that this project will be our first pressed into vinyl”.

With a couple of eye-catching features sprinkled into the mix from fellow Big Loud signee, Zandi Holup, and prolific Texas singer-songwriter, Sarah Jarosz, The Droptines’ Drought Flower serves as a wonderfully variegated snapshot of the band's eclectic tastes.

From the hard-earned hope of ‘Tombstone’ - a track that had been garnering a buzz online prior to the album's arrival - to the dark irreverence of ‘What Ate My Friend’, the enchanting vignettes on Drought Flower were primarily penned by Arthur.

With the exception of the closing two covers - Mike McClure Band's ‘Calling All Cars’ and The Magnetic Fields' ‘Grand Canyon’ - Arthur crafted each offering by himself.

Drought Flower is a captivating project, and consolidates The Droptines’ status as one of the most enthralling new country bands to emerge from the Texas scene in recent years.
