It's not often you'll be heading down to your favourite deli in Nashville, maybe picking up a little salt beef on rye for lunch, and find Tyler Childers has taken it over to play a pop-up set after releasing his brand new album.

Well, that's what genuinely happened yesterday (July 28), as the 'Nose on the Grindstone' Kentucky Native returned to Nashville, debuting tracks from the newly released Snipe Hunter to those that were certainly in the right place at the right time.

Why Childers chose the Turkey & Wolf Ice House on Meridian Street to "soft open" these tracks in Music City is unclear, but those lucky enough to be in attendance watched Childers and the Food Stamps quite literally tear through twelve unabashed songs, including live debuts of our hilarious new favourite 'Bitin' List', 'Watch Out', the Australian documentary script of 'Down Under', 'Getting to the Bottom' and 'Dirty Ought Trill'.

Of the lucky few in attendance, a certain Mr Evan Honer turned up to enjoy the proceedings. Honer has gained some major kudos and attention over the last couple years, particularly since he released a cover of Childers own 'Jersey Giant' with his pal, Julia DiGrazia.

After the set, Honer wasn't going to miss the opportunity to meet one of his idols, and thankfully for us there were witnesses with iPhones to capture the interaction.

Stepping up to introduce himself, Honer is suddenly taken aback by Childers hilariously playful and ribbing admission; "I cover your song all the time, I love Jersey Giant, it's so fun".

With both breaking into laughter, Honer jokes "I wasn't even going to mention that". Childers was quick to add, "I saw you out there and I was like... I know that guy".

With some 148,000,000 streams of their version later, you'd be easily fooled to think it was Honer's own song. Childers wasn't going to miss the opportunity to make light of the fact, with the songwriter himself adding the song back into his setlist for the first time in years.

While Childers is busy promoting the new record and touring the world for the rest of 2025, Honer himself has just released his new single 'Curtain', quickly following up his 2024 record, Fighting For.

It's safe to say we loved seeing this interaction, but what's going to be next? Sam Barber bumping into Tyler at a pop-up in a barbers? Josiah and The Bonnevilles accosting him at a secret show in a pub in England? Honestly at this point, anything's possible.
