Over the weekend, Morgan Wallen kicked off his Hard Rock Stadium double-header with a solo walk out backed by a remix of ‘Miami’, taken from his latest album, I’m The Problem.
The Wallen ‘Walk Out’ is famous for generating a stir, but it’s usually down to the famous faces he walks out with – Mike Tyson, Travis Kelce, Tom Brady etc. – not what he’s walking out to. This year, it's been ‘Broadway Girls’ fused with his I'm the Problem ‘Interlude’.
Ahead of Wallen's performances in Miami, fans were wondering whether the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper would deliver the live debut of his rap-infused track of the same name. However, as he strode out for the first night in Florida, we got something even better.
Wallen surprised fans with a tease of a new remix of ‘Miami’, featuring surprise guest verses from two rap titans, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross - and we need to know when it’s coming out.
Adding their distinct vocals across the verses, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross brought a fun hip-hop energy to the already infectious track, with Wallen coming back in for the original chorus.
It is, however, an interesting choice of someone to work with. One of Wallen’s good friends, Drake - who joined him for his Houston walk-out - very publicly clashed with Rick Ross last year, after Ross wasted no time in siding with Drake's arch-nemesis, Kendrick Lamar, during their beef. It makes us wonder if this ‘Miami’ remix has had the ‘6 God’s blessing. Maybe this is Wallen separating the art from the artist? Lil Wayne, on the other hand, was Drake's long-time ‘Young Money’ mentor, so you have to assume that if Drake is fine with Wayne collaborating with Ross, then surely he has no qualms about Wallen linking up with him, too.
We all know Morgan Wallen loves to tease his new music well in advance, so this could appear at any point in the next six months. But something tells us we’ll see it sooner. It’s the perfect addition to a summer playlist and with a short break in his tour at the beginning of August, we’re wondering if it might drop around then. Either way, we’re confident we’ll see it across social media again very soon.
With Wallen chatting to Theo Von earlier in the year about his desire to explore other genres such as rap and House, we're wondering if he might drop this ‘Miami’ remix as part of a deluxe version of I'm the Problem, or perhaps even as a standalone EP.
It's worth highlighting that BigXthaPlug was originally meant to be the featured artist on ‘Miami’, but he didn't finish his verse in time. Could BigX be making an appearance on another track, perhaps? And will Drake appear on the long-teased extended version of ‘Interlude’? It certainly seems Wallen has plenty of star-studded music up his sleeve, and we're hoping we'll get to hear it before the summer is out.
