When Morgan Wallen dropped his sprawling, eclectic new studio album, I'm the Problem, in May, it was difficult to know where to start, with a whopping 37 songs to dive into.
Nonetheless, shortly after the stellar new project's arrival, there was one track that quickly established itself as a hotly contested subject of debate - the Keith Whitley-inspired ‘Miami’.
It proved to be the Marmite of the album, with some fans pinpointing the swaggering, genre-blurring anthem as an early favourite from the project, while others bemoaned its incorporation of trap beats and its somewhat light-hearted subject matter, compared to the weighty introspection that permeates the rest of the record.
If you ask this writer, it's an infectious, playful earworm that showcases Wallen's ability to deftly flit between country and trap textures. But regardless of your opinion of ‘Miami’, it's been one of the most talked-about tracks from I'm the Problem.
As a result, with Wallen's next show set to take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, fans are wondering if attendees will get to experience the live debut of ‘Miami’ here. If he does, we'd love to see him give those high-pitched backing vocals a try...
It would undoubtedly be the perfect place to perform the uptempo offering, an although Wallen edited and adjusted his Apple Music Setlist three times before his I'm the Problem Tour opener in Houston, Texas, one of those iterations featured ‘Miami’.
With this fleeting inclusion seemingly hinting that he plans to perform ‘Miami’ at some point during his 2025 tour, we think there's a very good chance he'll add the controversial hit into his setlist for both of this weekend's Hard Rock Stadium shows.
We're also hoping Wallen treats us to a remix of the sun-soaked smash featuring a rapper - ideally BigXthaPlug - with the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker revealing to Theo Von earlier in the year that BigX was initially supposed to appear on the track.
With Miami home to an array of musical stars and sports phenoms, we also reckon Morgan Wallen might have some A-list guests joining him for his pre-show walkouts.
During the first few shows of his tour, Wallen has been flanked by the likes of Drake and Brett Favre, with his pre-show routine becoming a highly anticipated moment in itself. Whoever he has by his side, and whichever songs he decides to include in his setlist, one thing is for sure: if you're heading to Miami on either July 11th or 12th - or both, if you're lucky - you're in for a spectacular, rip-roaring performance.
