After Monday came and went without any sign of the new song we were promised, ‘Streets of London’, Zach Bryan is more than making up for it by announcing he'll be dropping a second track alongside it today (Tuesday, July 1st), ‘River Washed Hair’.
Taking to his preferred mode of communication these days, Instagram Stories, Bryan has explained to fans why he didn't end up dropping ‘Streets of London’ on the originally planned release date, “yoooo decided to put two songs out instead of just one so it's gonna take an extra day!! Songs'll be out Tuesday sorry sorry sorry”.
The ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker touches on why ‘Streets of London’ and ‘River Washed Hair’ are being given standalone releases, “they are kind of just tunes that didn't belong on the record, and they didn't fit on an EP either, so I'm just releasing them to get them out into the world cause I love them. Hope you guys enjoy them. I love each one of ya!! even the folks who talked mad shit all year”.
Then, the Oklahoma native expressed his immense pride at packing out two back-to-back nights of BST Hyde Park 2025, “also only five people ever have sold out Hyde Park two nights in a row. I have you guys to thank for it. I love you so much for showing out London. I will love your beautiful city and country forever! See you next time!”
Bryan delivered two stellar sets at the much-loved London festival across the weekend, with the ’Dawns’ crooner treating the UK crowd to the live debut of ‘Streets of London’.
It came shorty after his momentous triple-header at Dublin's Phoenix Park, during which he performed another unreleased track, ‘Plastic Cigarette’, for the first time ever.
Bryan previously revealed on Instagram that he'll be staying in London for a little while longer to record some more of his eagerly anticipated new studio record, Motorbreath.
With his band heading back to the States, Zach Bryan has heartwarmingly paid homage to them via his Stories, “and to my best friends, my crew, and my band. What you do I'll forever be indebted for. I am so lucky to know each and every one of you and you'll be my family forever. God speed boys and girls get back home safe !!!”
He then sheds some light on which songs will be making his forthcoming album and his long-teased With Heaven On Top EP. Bryan confirms, “the songs I'm releasing are River Washed Hair and Streets of London”, before expanding, “songs like In Dreams, Madeline, Plastic Cigarette, Bowery and Rockaway will all be on the record. I'm working on making it special so everyone just fuckn chill for a sec”.
Zach Bryan goes on to name-check other fan-favourite tracks he's been teasing in recent months, assuring listeners they will be making their way onto his keenly awaited The Great American Bar Scene follow-up album, too, “Runny Eggs, Skin, Savior Complex and a shit load more than no one's ever heard are on it!” Excitingly, it seems we have another expansive, American Heartbreak-length record en route.
He concluded with what some have interpreted to be a thinly veiled dig at the Nashvillian style of having multiple songwriters across an album, “just been living well and writing often. it'll be here when it's here! some of us prefer to write our own records”.
Either way, we can't wait to hear ‘Streets of London’ and ‘River Washed Hair’ when they drop today. The time they'll be made available to stream has not been unveiled yet, but if his live performance of the former is anything to go by, it'll be well worth the wait.
