In her recent interview on the New York Times 'Popcast,' country star Miranda Lambert says she often learns from younger artists such as Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson.
Miranda Lambert, whose known for having an extensive relationship with some of country's younger stars, such as Ella Langley and Morgan Wallen, has reportedly been something of a "mentor" for these artists as they navigate the country music scene. Her wise words, as well as the country music torch have been passed down to these artists in many respects. However, the 'Bluebird' songstress reveals that there is a lot to be learned from the younger artists that surround her too - such as promoting projects and media presence in a digital age.
"I'm learning a lot from her [Ella] and Lainey, and just like, younger artists," Lambert says, "in a lot of ways, I sit back and I watch what's working and how its working - I'm trying to stay alert and understand it all. That doesn't mean I have to love it, but I don't have to love it, I just have to do it."
In today's country landscape, a post to TikTok, Instagram, or general promotion can be the difference between an artist's work blowing up or remaining stagnant. Coming into the country scene in a digital age, that's a part of the job artists such as Ella Langley and Lainey Wilson know entirely - but according to Lambert, it took a certain amount of convincing to get the 'Mama's Broken Heart' crooner to bend to today's nature of rapid output of content and promotion.
However, Lambert recognizes some of the attention she's gotten from her hit 'Choosin Texas,' which she co-wrote with Langley, has come directly from the song's massive takeoff on platforms such as TikTok - and now that Langley, Wilson, and other country stars have taught Lambert a thing or two about releasing content, she has skillfully and successfully applied these tactics to her own work.
"If y'all are new here because of 'Choosin Texas,' welcome and stay awhile," Lambert says. "But I'm trying to like, not be a dinosaur about it, and lean in but sort of do it my way, so that I don't feel cheesy or uncomfortable or weird, like let's go to Texas and line dance and if that's content, I can do that."
Of course, the 'Vice' vocalist was referencing the promotive work she did with her 2026 album Crisco, where Lambert promoted the project through a live performance at the beloved "Billy Bob's" in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as short music videos shot at the location to complement the essence of each track.
Lambert is an artist of today's country music world that knows just how to blend the new with the old - having been in the country scene since before some of her younger country pals even picked up a guitar, she knows a lot of the ins and outs of record making and live performance - still making music while young artists rise, and recognizing the growing importance of utilizing social media as a tool, she adapts in a way many old school country artists would simply refuse to - which is why Lambert continues to staple herself as a musical light that won't go out.
