British Columbia's country music festival, Sunfest, has revealed its first headlining act for 2023.

One of the genre's most recognisable stars, Blake Shelton, will perform on the final day of the four-day event, closing out what looks set to be another spectacular occasion.

Blake's addition will have members of Canada's burgeoning country music fanbase gleefully circling August 6 on their calendars, with the Oklahoma hitmaker possessing an illustrious catalogue of hits.

The announcement follows Blake's revelation that he will be stepping away from the popular US talent show, The Voice, on which he has been a judge for twelve years.

While things have been a little quiet on the new music front for much of 2022, Blake surprised fans with a ‘Super Deluxe’ version of his 2012 Christmas album, Cheers, It's Christmas, in November.

We assume that he won't be bringing out any of these festive classics in the summer warmth of British Columbia at Sunfest 2023 - as fun as a rowdy, crowd-wide sing-a-long of ‘Winter Wonderland’ would be!

But fans can definitely expect unforgettable performances of ‘Austin’, ‘Gonna’, ‘I'll Name the Dogs’ and more.

The rest of the 2023 line-up is yet to be announced, but 2022 saw lively, high-octane sets from acts such as Darius Rucker, Dallas Smith, HARDY, Billy Currington, Kip Moore and more. Blake Shelton's unveiling has certainly whetted fans' appetites for another star-studded series of performances when August 3-6 rolls around.

Tickets are available from December 2, and can be purchased here.
