Everything you need to know about the peaceful, optimistic song from Ella Langley’s 2026 studio album, ‘Dandelion’, which has been co-produced alongside Miranda Lambert and Ben West.
First performed at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium in November 2025 alongside one of her co-writers, ERNEST, Ella Langley's ‘Loving Life Again’ follows ‘Be Her’ and ‘Choosin’ Texas’ as the momentum continues to build ahead of her new album, Dandelion.
It finds Langley reflecting on the difficult period she experienced while on tour in 2025, with the Alabama native stepping away from the road to work on her mental health. ‘Loving Life Again’ is the triumphant fruit of that time off, with Langley refreshed and revitalised as she confides in the listener the methods she uses to stay calm.
With Miranda Lambert and Ben West taking the helm for the production alongside Langley, ‘Loving Life Again’ features the warm, cushioning guitars that have permeated the singles from Dandelion so far. The peaceful, comforting ambience of the instrumental mirrors the newfound equanimity Langley has discovered.
Langley showcases her charismatic, compelling vocals throughout, lacing a sense of ease into her delivery, accentuating the tranquil spirit of the track. You can also hear ERNEST's backing vocals entering the fray during pockets of ’Loving Life Again’.
Langley begins by confessing that, much like the changing seasons, she finds that she can find herself getting embroiled into negative states of mind that are difficult to emerge from.
She then cites a strategy she has developed for breaking through these challenging moments, “I got memories I like to think of / When this big old world gets a bit too much”.
The ‘you look like you love me’ singer-songwriter explains how she uses memories and songs that transport her to simpler times as a means of getting to “loving life again”. Langley fondly reflects on how she uses music, “When days are long, I drift away / I play that song I used to play / When skies are always summertime blue”.
One of the many charming vignettes Langley recounts in ‘Loving Life Again’ is of her grandmother calling her in for supper as a child. Langley exclaims, “Yoohoo!” during this verse, and in an interview with Jo Dee Messina for Nashville's Country Radio Seminar, the ‘Be Her’ hitmaker shares that her grandma used to always make this sound when she was trying to get the children's attention.
When introducing the song at a show in early 2026, before the track had been released, Langley explained the heartfelt inspiration behind ‘Loving Life Again’, “I've been playing shows almost every weekend since I was 18... I've played this venue a couple times now. I played it first here with Koe Wetzel, I played it with Jon Pardi before, and tonight I'm [headlining]...It still feels weird, it feels like someone's coming on after me and y'all are just waiting for that person to come on. But no, this is it...I'm so grateful to be in this position tonight, and get to play these songs and get to watch y'all sing them back to me, and literally live out my dreams”.
Langley went on, “This next song I'm about to play is on the [new] record, and it's probably one of the most sentimental. I went through a time and a half last year, where I took a couple weeks off, and I got to re-find myself. I got to have a lot of talks with the Lord, and I got to be re-grateful for all the things that He's given me”.
“Seasons come like seasons go, I guess
Ain't it just like me, making all this mess of my head again?
I got memories I like to think of
When this big old world gets a bit too much
-
When days are long, I drift away
I play that song I used to play
When skies are always summertime blue
-
Just like that, I'm back to loving life again
Dreaming dreams about back home riding on the wind
When I close my eyes, I find some peace in the back of my mind
In between them pines where I'm jumping on that quartеr horse, and then
Just like that, I'm back to loving lifе again
-
See that red dirt?
Hear that front porch swing
Is that Grandma?
I think she's callin' me, yoohoo
-
When days are long, I drift away
I sing that sweet "Amazing Grace"
And I'm right there where skies are always summertime blue
-
And just like that, I'm back to loving life again
Dreaming dreams about back home riding on the wind
When I close my eyes, I find some peace in the back of my mind
In between them pines where I'm jumping on that quarter horse, and then
Just like that, I'm back to loving life again
-
I know I ain't the only one who thinks about that settin' sun
Settlin' on down into the night, and put it on rewind
-
Just like that, I'm back to loving life again
Dreaming dreams about back home riding on the wind
When I close my eyes, I find some peace in the back of my mind
In between them pines where I'm jumping on that quarter horse, and then
Just like that, I'm back
Yeah, just like that, I'm back to loving life again
-
Lovin' life again
I'm back to loving life again”
