Brantley Gilbert and Jason Aldean have responded via social media, following Zach Bryan and Harley Carmichael's tongue-in-cheek, hotdog-themed cover of ‘Dirt Road Anthem’.
Bryan and his buddy Carmichael shared a hilarious parody of Aldean's 2010 hit single, which was seemingly inspired by how intensely they both love chilli on their hotdogs.
It's still not 100% clear whether Bryan was just having a bit of fun, or whether the light-hearted re-imagination was a dig at Aldean. Bryan was vocal in his criticism of Kid Rock and the Turning Point USA's alternative Half-Time show, which ran opposite Bad Bunny. Aldean and Gilbert are both good buddies with Rock, with the latter even performing at the TPUSA Half-Time show with Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett.
What's more, Bryan has always been one of the most prominent critics of the mainstream Nashville scene, with Aldean a poster boy for the genre's much-maligned Bro-Country wave.
Either way, Gilbert and Aldean seem to have taken offence, with the former uploading a playful video of him listening to Bryan and Carmichael's clip, while assembling two hotdogs.
In the caption, Gilbert references the ‘Something in the Orange’ hitmaker's infamous almost-brawl with Gavin Adcock at Born & Raised Festival in Oklahoma last year, where Bryan scaled a fence just to confront Adcock. Gilbert names Bryan and jokes, “you can climb all the fences you want, you’re not getting my chili dog”.
In the comments section, Gilbert's friend and collaborator Aldean has poked fun at Bryan, remarking that his ‘Dirt Road Anthem’ parody is the “Best song I’ve heard from that guy”.
Chase Rice has also joined in, commenting, “Get ur brass knuckles ready”. We hope that everyone involved has taken this in good humour, rather than viewing this as a genuine affront on either side. One thing is (seemingly) for sure - we don't think fans should hold their breath for a Bryan and Aldean collaboration any time soon...
