During his interview with People, Riley Green spoke about all things country music, family life and his love life. But we think a little note about his gym routine gives us way more insight than he might think.

As part of their ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ issue, Green was featured as ‘Country Music’s Hottest Cowboy’ and so naturally, interviewer Alex Ross took the conversation to the gym.

Ross asked Green what song he listens to during his workouts, to which the ‘My Way’ crooner replied, “Well, it changes all the time. 'Sara Smile' by Hall & Oates for a little while. I’m a big Al Green guy. That kind of goes anytime for me…”.

OK, and?

Well, here we can, in no uncertain terms, say that Riley Green is a big Al Green fan. He quite literally said so. But why does that matter?

For the past couple of years, Green has been followed by the ‘love triangle’ theory created by media outlets and internet sleuths, which concerns his possible relationships with Megan Moroney and Ella Langley.

Now, all three have remained pretty tightlipped about the whole thing. That is, until Megan Moroney’s Cloud 9 album came out and fans went nuts with conspiracies around who the songs were about.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan earlier this year, Moroney all but confirmed ‘Who Hurt You’ was about Green. “I made it so obvious who it’s about,” she said about the song, “it was, like, you could Google it”.

However, we think Green’s comment about his work out songs gives us a clue that another song might be about him, too.

Check out this line from Moroney’s, ‘Waiting On The Rain’: “Ain’t the first time I’ve been wrong / We’ll make new friends / Skip every Al Green song / And I’ll leave us in the past”.

Read it again.

“Skip every Al Green song.”

And what did Green say about Al Green? “That kind of goes anytime for me.” Is it a coincidence? Maybe. Al Green is a very popular artist. Are we reaching? Possibly. But we’re adding this together and the math suggests that the highly emotive track is likely to be about Green, too. It even follows ‘Who Hurt You’ on the album.

And let’s be honest, a heartbreaker that generates a song like ‘Who Hurt You’ probably isn’t going to get away with just one Megan Moroney song. She’s kind of good at it.

There’s also the P.O.S. drama from Green’s song that fans believed to be about Moroney because he teased it on the same day as her album release. He allegedly wrote it 6 months prior according to his interview with Billboard, and denied that the song was about her.

Either way, we’re pretty convinced that Riley Green has just given us another sizable piece of this whole puzzle. And if the songs are anything to go by, this heartbreak was pretty sad.
