Ella Langley was forced to cancel her Tulsa, Oklahoma show at BOK Arena due to a “serious security threat”, with the ‘Choosin’ Texas’ hitmaker apologising to fans via social media.
In the caption, Langley explained why the show couldn't go ahead, “Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show. This decision was made under the advisement of local authorities, the venue, and my security team”.
She went on, “I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am. This is not a decision that was made lightly. I was so looking forward to spending tonight with you, but your safety will always mean more to me than anything else. I refuse to put anyone in harm’s way”.
In the original statement, Langley's team share, “Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of fans, venue personnel, and the artist, Ella Langley's scheduled performance tonight at BOK Center in Tulsa has been canceled. The safety and well-being of everyone involved is our absolute priority, and after careful consideration, we have determined that the show cannot proceed”.
The statement makes it clear more details will come, particularly with regards to how fans can secure their refund, “We understand the disappointment this news brings and apologize to fans who planned to attend. The safety of fans is our foremost concern and will always come first. Additional information and details regarding ticket refunds will be shared as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the safety of all involved”.
Captain Richard Meulenberg from Tulsa Police Department added some additional information as to the nature of the threat, with Meulenberg outlining that a person had called claiming “great harm” would be done at the show with “shots fired and bombs”.
He also confirm his team has subsequently checked the venue several times before the show and “could not find any threat”, adding, “The event was ready to go...We could not find a credible threat”. He stressed that the caller had “disrupted this entire event” and ruined what should've been a celebratory night for Langley fans.
As Langley emphasises in her statement, the safety of fans, staff and all those in attendance is always the priority, and while ticket-holders will be disappointed at this cancellation, they will understand why the precaution had to be made.
