Morgan Wallen’s Creative Director Shares How Theo Von Ended Up in the 2026 Tour Intro Video: “He Was So Funny, Man”

During a new episode of In the Trenches with Spidey Smith, Morgan Wallen's Creative Director Justin Clough shares how Theo Von ended up in Wallen's 2026 tour intro video.

Von starred in the amusing opening sketch that was played before every Wallen show on his Still the Problem Tour, with the comedian playing a member of Wallen's backstage crew.

It served as a playful, light-hearted way to get the crowd ready ahead of Wallen's explosive on-stage entrance. With Von being a longstanding buddy of the ‘Love Somebody’ chart-topper, the decision to include him in this skit was one that just made sense.

Via In the Trenches with Spidey Smith, a podcast hosted by one of Wallen's go-to photographers, Spidey Smith, the Sneedville native's Creative Director, Justin Clough, outlines how the choice of getting Von involved was a no-brainer for the team.

Clough shares how it was a very easy decision for him and Wallen, “We had just gone through a couple of different people, and I think we all just mutually agreed Theo was [right]”.

He recalls how, as soon as he put the headset on, Von was in character, “Dude, it was so funny. Dude, he put the headset on, and he was like, you know, when he got there to show up, he immediately went into character and he just started walking around, talking to random crew guys. He had the headset on, the clipboard”.

Hilariously, Clough reveals Von acted as though he was a real member of the team, “He's like, ‘You just go find a G&E guy’, he's like, ‘Step it up, brother. Come on, brother, keep it going’...Those guys were like, ‘What the f***?’. He was so funny, man”.

Wallen and Von have been pals since the early days of his career, with the ‘Whiskey Glasses’ crooner appearing on Von's This Past Weekend podcast a couple of times over the years. In an interview back in December 2025, Von underlined how much he admires Wallen and discussed how they attend Bible Study sessions together.

Clough has been a pivotal member of Wallen's camp for years now, with the prolific music video director having shot a host of now-iconic visuals for the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper, such as ‘Smile’, ‘20 Cigarettes’, ‘7 Summers’ and ‘More Than My Hometown’.

As well as being the creative impetus behind Wallen's 2026 Still the Problem Tour intro sketch, Clough also came up with the brillianet jet plane-inspired stage design.

With Wallen gearing up for a new chapter, one that is set to revolve around his latest single, ‘Been By Now’, we're excited to see what striking visuals Clough and the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter come up with around this forthcoming project.
