Luke Grimes said that working with Ella Langley on the ‘Choosin’ Texas’ video was a “no brainer”, calling her “a real artist”.
In an interview with Woman’s World, Grimes spoke about how he came to be on the music video.
Grimes and Langley met through a mutual friend, having both attended the same wedding. It was at this wedding that Langley spoke to Grimes about wanting to try her hand at acting some day.
“This is kind of right before the big pop off for her, right before she got strapped to the rocket and took off,” he said, “so I think maybe that’s why she reached out when it was time to do the video, and it was a no-brainer.”
Grimes plays Langley’s partner in the music video. You know, the guy who’s choosing Texas, before Langley hops in Miranda Lambert’s van and heads back to Tennessee. With his ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘Marshals’ background, Grimes’ role as a Texas cowboy was easy to buy into. But the buy-in also came from Grimes himself.
“I just love that song so much,” Grimes continued, “I had no idea that it was going to become the biggest song of all time. But I’m so happy for her. She’s great. She’s a real artist.”
Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ continues to break records, sitting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the longest running stint in the chart’s history.
“All of the success that she’s having is because of the fact that she is a real artist,” Grimes said about his friend, “she puts so much of her heart and soul into her work, and I’m just a huge fan of hers.”
