During a new episode of Morgan Wallen Radio on SiriusXM, Morgan's dad Tommy expresses his admiration for the ‘Miami’ singer-songwriter's discipline before his live shows.

During the early days of his career, Morgan had a somewhat infamous track record for how rowdy and rambunctious he was off-stage, with the Sneedville native getting into a host of wild (and also somewhat amusing) mishaps, often involving his buddy ERNEST.

But now, as Tommy explains, Morgan has cultivated a strict training routine and diet in the months preceding his expansive stadium tours, with the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper treating his live shows in a similar way to how athletes get ready for a new season.

As part of his Family Tradition segment on Morgan Wallen Radio, Tommy reflects, “I guess the favourite part of me watching Morgan perform live is knowing all the effort that he puts towards getting ready for the tour. He changes his diet, he exercises like a madman and then he and the band practice a lot”.

He reveals how moving it is to experience the final show after witnessing this preparation, “You just get to see it all come together, and he just brings that unforgettable experience to his fans. It's amazing to get to see all of it come together to that point”.

Tommy goes on to touch on the audiences at these concerts, with Morgan often performing to around 100,000 attendees, “The crowds at Morgan's shows when I get to see them, it's been pretty overwhelming just to watch, especially like when I'm side-stage and sort of peeking around. Just to see the enthusiasm, the excitement, just the joy, and it's just hard to look at that and think, ‘That's my son!’”

Elsewhere, Tommy gushes about Morgan's artistic evolution, “After Morgan decided to make a career in the music industry, I've got to watch it from the beginning to the end. He's had some rough patches, but to see who he has become through it all, I'm thankful and I feel pretty fortunate to have been able to see and experience it all from the beginning...I look forward to what the future holds for him”.

Tommy outlines his immense pride whenever Morgan's music comes on the radio, “The feeling I get when I hear one of Morgan's songs on the radio is definitely one of gratitude, it makes me see that people are interested in his music, they like his music”.

It leads him to recall what the family would listen on drives when Morgan was a child, “The car we had when the kids were growing up was a Nissan Quest van...We had them all close together, so we had three car-seats, and what we had on the radio was definitely Christian music, some classical music, and then of course some kind of teaching or training, because [Wallen's mom] Leslie was home-schooling them at the time. I just remember singing State Capitals and it was pretty fun”.

It's undoubtedly heartwarming to hear Tommy look back at Morgan's growth over the past few years, especially as this is a progression that we as fans have also had the good fortune of following after he first stormed onto the scene in 2018 with If I Know Me.

Morgan has been open about how he has matured, particularly in the time between 2023's One Thing At A Time and 2025's I'm the Problem, and how his mindset has changed considerably, particularly when it comes to his electric live performances.

He commands larger audiences than almost any other artist in today's musical landscape, and judging by the energy he pours into his sets and his dedication to putting on the best show possible, it's no surprise Morgan has blossomed into such a touring titan.
