Stella Lefty has been announced as part of the lineup for Capital's Jingle Bell Ball in London, UK.
The 'Boston' singer joins a well respected list of global superstars including Tom Grennan, Jason Derulo, Jorja Smith and John Legend.
Looking at the announcement, there's one element that really smacks you in the face: this is absolutely not a country event.
Capital is one of the UK's largest commercial pop radio networks and their Jingle Bell Ball and Summertime Balls pack out the O2 arena every year, with fans celebrating the mix of artists chosen to perform.
Why do we care that Stella Lefty is on the bill? Well, it strengthens our argument that country music is more than having its moment. It is becoming part of the global music vernacular and the artists are starting to be seen as artists, not just country artists.
Having Lefty on the bill shows that her sound, albeit pop-country leaning, is accepted on a more mainstream level, opening the door for more fans to find the best genre in music.
"This is an absolute dream come true" Lefty told the Capital breakfast show as her announcement was aired. A trailblazer for country music across the pond, she's kind of making history with this line-up.
Aside from Taylor Swift, Lefty is the only artist associated with country music to play the festival. Swift first performed at the festival in 2014 as she began to depart country music. She's since played it twice more, with her albums very much in her pop era.
Dasha joined the lineup for Capital's Summertime Ball which was also a huge moment for country music but in terms of the Christmas themed event, Lefty is our reigning country Queen.
