Taylor Swift surprised attendees at Nashville's Tight Ends & Friends last night (Tuesday, June 23rd) by emerging during Lainey Wilson's set to perform her hit song, ’Love Story’.
Taylor's appearance was greeted by a deafening chorus of cheers, with the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer-songwriter delivering a live-wire rendition of her much-loved country anthem.
After Taylor kicked things off, Lainey took the helm for the second verse, with their vocals combining seamlessly, leaving us - and many others, no doubt - hoping they'll link up for an official collaboration in the near future. Taylor's appearance has some fans wondering whether this is the latest clue that she is returning to country music.
Taylor's ‘Love Story’ performance comes hot on the heels of her new single, ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, which the Pennsylvania native penned in honour of Disney's Toy Story 5.
The fact that ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ was country-leaning, and that the global icon joined forces with Lainey, leaves us wondering if she is teasing that her next album will be country.
We're not so sure, as ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ being country feels like an homage to Randy Newman's legendary Toy Story soundtracks, and Taylor's performance at Tight Ends & Friends was likely just a show of support to her fiancé, Travis Kelce. What's more, Taylor also performed at last year's instalment, taking the stage for an impromptu rendition of ‘Shake It Off’ alongside Kane Brown.
Kelce, George Kittle and Greg Olsen host Tight Ends & Friends each year to raise money for a variety of charities, as part of the trio's Tight End University (TEU) program. This year's ceremony took place at Nashville's The Pinnacle, and also featured performances from country hitmakers, Dan + Shay and Chase Rice.
