Thomas Rhett’s The Soundtrack To Life Tour opened Thursday, July 9th, at GEODIS Park in Nashville, TN, where he treated fans to an unreleased song, ‘Sky Fall’. It’s not the first time he’s played this one live, but it is the first time he’s played it on tour.
Rhett is known for his love of love songs, inspired by his adoration of his wife, Lauren Atkins. ‘Sky Fall’ appears to be another doting ode to her and their ever-growing family. The song opens with a reference to their dogs and babies sleeping in their bed, going on to reveal Rhett’s unwavering promise to his wife. Just Rhett and his guitar, he sings:
"Baby if the sky falls
Crashes on the sidewalk
You bet I’d be the fella
Holding that umbrella
'Til Jesus turns the lights off
Write it on my headstone
Til the day I’m dead and gone
Baby there ain’t nothin'
That ever made my lovin'
Go and take a night off
Even if the sky falls"
Rhett hasn’t released any new solo music since his deluxe version of About A Woman last October 2025. Could this be the soft launch of a new project? We’re damn sure hoping so. And so are the fans.
Rhett’s comments section was flooded with praise and delight at the prospect of a new song. “Release it!!” one fan commented, while another posted, “We need this song!! I can’t wait for the next album!! 🎵❤️”.
Rhett’s The Soundtrack To Life Tour continues across North America through to October 2026.
