Willie Nelson has officially announced his new memoir, “The Last Leaf: Reflections on Late-Life Creativity and My Longest Love Affair,” to be released on November 10th, 2026, in honor of his wife, Annie.

Following the release of his 2026 album, Dream Chaser, the 93-year-old country legend plans to let his attentive fans in on his creative influences with his eighth book, “The Last Leaf.” The book will feature Nelson’s past few years, his near-death experience due to COVID-19, and how his loving wife, Annie, ties into everything in-between.

In a short promotional video on Nelson’s Instagram, the official account pairs with the book’s publication, Penguin Press, to make one of many points of the upcoming novel, sharing, “In a great life, like a great book, the last chapter is the best chapter,” which is a call to no other than his recent years, times that have been spent with creative endeavors and his loving wife.

Nelson, who possesses the ability to tell the story of his own life that remains as lively as ever, commented on the upcoming book, saying, “The backbone of this book is a love story. The heroine is my wife, Annie, who kept me alive when I was sure I was gone. COVID nearly got me. I was hurting so bad I wanted out. But Annie wouldn’t let me go. The years I’ve lived since then are because of Annie. And so is this book,” the country troubadour explained.

It’s no secret that truly great storytelling stems from having a great muse and a perhaps uneasy arc. Like all of Nelson’s books, this jack of all creative trades tells stories based on different seasons of his life, such as “It’s A Long Story: My Life” and “Me and Paul”, where he writes of humble beginnings to worldwide fame, and relationships along the winding road of his career.

As he enjoys the self-declared “last chapter” of a legendary life, Nelson’s new book will feature the brightest spots and the greatest act of love he believes to have shaped an incredible run.
