Bailey Zimmerman has cancelled his 2026 UK and European Tour, with the Illinois native also pulling out of his headline performance at The Long Road Festival, leaving organisers with just weeks to replace one of the biggest names on its line up. Chandler Walters, a long-time collaborator of Zimmerman’s, has confirmed he’ll also not be making it across The Pond for The Long Road. Walters was due to join Zimmerman as support on all his shows across the UK and Europe.

Zimmerman was due to headline the festival on Saturday 29th August, which would have marked his first UK performance in more than two years. He had previously completed a sold out UK and European tour in 2024. Whilst no reason was given, we know artists do not cancel shows lightly and without having to make heartbreaking decisions.

It comes after what appears to have been a difficult few months for the singer. A New Mexico performance was cancelled in May following an incident at his hotel, for which Zimmerman later apologised and took responsibility. The charges connected to the incident were subsequently dropped. More recently, his performance at the Delaware State Fair was disrupted by a power failure outside of his control.

None of that confirms why he has withdrawn from his date across The Pond and his The Long Road Festival show and it would be unfair to speculate or make what appears to be a difficult time, more difficult. Fans only see a small part of an artist’s life and cannot know what may be happening personally, professionally or behind closed doors.

Zimmerman has spent much of the past few years touring relentlessly while adjusting to an incredibly fast rise in his career. Whatever has led to the decision, the most important thing is that he is okay and has the time and support he needs. A festival appearance can be rescheduled or replaced. Someone’s wellbeing should always come first and this is what the country community does best - come together, get behind and support. This moment will be no different.

Attention will now turn to who could replace him.

We think Darius Rucker may be the strongest name to watch. An absolute icon of the genre, playing the O2 last year. Rucker does not currently have a publicly listed show on 29th August and has developed a close relationship with the UK, even living in London. He is also one of the few seemingly available names who could arrive as a genuine headliner and create mass excitement, rather than simply fill an empty spot.

With country hits including ‘Wagon Wheel’, ‘Alright’ and ‘Come Back Song’, alongside the enormous Hootie & the Blowfish catalogue, he would appeal to country, Americana and wider music fans. He also understands the UK audience and could bring one of the biggest singalong moments of the entire weekend.

Other contenders could be Josh Ross who’s already appearing on Saturday. Perhaps the Long Road team could move him up into poll position? This would avoid the difficulty of arranging international travel, visas, crew and production at short notice.

Promoting an artist already on the line-up would certainly appear to be the simplest solution. But bringing in Rucker would be the biggest statement TLR could make. With one of country music’s best loved voices apparently free, perhaps the road to a new headliner isn’t long (see what we did there?!) given Rucker lives just down it...!

Replacing Zimmerman is not only about finding somebody free. The artist must be willing and able to travel, move a full live operation into Britain for one performance and satisfy fans who bought Saturday tickets for one of modern country’s fastest rising stars. The Long Road now has a difficult job ahead with just weeks to go until the event.
