Ella Langley has officially unfollowed Riley Green on Instagram, with various fans online speculating whether this has anything to do with the duo's long-rumoured romance.

It might seem a rather trivial detail for an artist to unfollow another artist on social media, and it's true that, once upon a time, this could be excused as a simple accident.

But there's no doubt that, in today's social media landscape, unfollowing an artist can easily blow up into a much bigger moment than it was intended to be - especially when the artists have history or where there are already rumours about a rift. It's worth highlighting that Green still follows Langley on Instagram, at the time of writing.

Many fans have taken to social media to speculate that this could be linked to the rumoured romance between Green and Langley while they've been touring together in recent years. Both artists have always maintained that this was nothing more than wishful thinking from fans wanting the passionate love-stories in both ‘you look like you love me’ and ‘Don't Mind If I Do’ to have some truth behind them.

But when Green became linked romantically to Megan Moroney, before their very public break-up (which Moroney wrote ‘Who Hurt You?’ about), TikTok sleuths continued to scour the internet to any signs of bad blood between Green, Moroney and Langley. Langley does not follow Moroney on Instagram, and neither does Green.

It's very possible this is all just a case of fans reading too much into a simple unfollow. But given the history and all the conjecture swirling around Langley and Green, you'd have to be pretty naive to think that this move would not reignite the rumour mill.

Either way, on a day when two country music arch nemeses - Gavin Adcock and Charley Crockett - shocked the world by squashing their beef, we're hoping there's no major lingering ill-will between Langley, Green and Moroney, especially given the fact that they're blossoming into three of the biggest stars in modern country. Perhaps everyone could do with pressing play on Kenny Chesney's feel-good, one-love anthem, ‘Get Along’ (“Paint a wall, learn to dance / Call your mom, buy a boat / Drink a beer, sing a song / Make a friend, can't we all get along?”).
