After teasing something mysterious arriving on Thursday, September 10th 2026, Eric Church has now confirmed that he'll be releasing his brand new single, ‘On The Road’.
In a new Instagram post, The Chief shares the inspiration behind it, “There’s something about a life on the road where the miles start to blur together, yet the people and the moments never do. My new song “On The Road” is out this Thursday, Sept. 10”.
In an official statement, the song is described as a nostalgic reflection on some of Church's highlights from the road, ranging from performing with ‘The King’ - George Strait - at his iconic farewell show in Texas, to playing to a crowd under the Northern Lights.
It's an exciting next step from Church, whose last full-length album, Evangeline vs. The Machine, arrived last year, with a live version of the stellar project dropping earlier in 2026.
It's not yet clear whether we should treat this surprise single as a standalone release, or whether ‘On The Road’ marks the first sneak preview of Church's next studio album.
Church has made a point of giving his Church Choir subscribers early access to his new music, and in keeping with this, the ’Springsteen’ hitmaker has made ‘On The Road’ available via the official Eric Church app and Church's official website immediately.
Like so many other beloved gems in Church's expansive catalogue of rock-infused country anthems, ‘On The Road’ was penned with his long-time collaborator, Jay Joyce.
