Jason Sudeikis surprised Mumford & Sons’ Madison Square Garden audience last night (Tuesday, August 11th) by emerging on-stage to sing the Ted Lasso theme-song with the band.

Sudeikis, who stars in Apple TV's hit series, Ted Lasso, is good buddies with Marcus Mumford, with the latter co-writing the theme-song and being the co-composer of the show with Tom Lowe. The duo score all the musical interludes, and background music.

Sudeikis sparked widespread cheers as he suddenly appeared on-stage while Mumford & Sons were delivering a high-energy rendition of the now-iconic theme-song. The band have been incorporating the song into their set in honour of the new season.

This heartwarming moment arrives after the first episode of Season 4 of Ted Lasso, which aired last Wednesday. The new instalment finds Ted being convinced to move back from Kansas, Missouri to help coach the new AFC Richmond women's team.

Mumford & Sons feel like the perfect band to be involved with Ted Lasso. Aside from being British, Marcus has spoken regularly about his deep-seated love for football, admitting the folk trailblazers plotted their 2026 tour around England's FIFA World Cup fixtures.

New episodes of the hit series’ latest season, which also stars Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca, Juno Temple as Keeley, Brett Goldstein as Roy, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard and more, are being made available on Apple TV every Wednesday.

Mumford & Sons, meanwhile, are in the middle of their 2026 Prizefighter World Tour, with two more dates lined up at New York's Madison Square Garden across August 12 and 13, before they continue their run in New Hampshire, Montreal and more.
