In the cinematic new trailer for Forrest Frank's forthcoming film, The Jesus Generation, Forrest and Jelly Roll share a warm embrace backstage at one of the former's shows.

In the teaser, the two genre-blurring artists are seen hugging one another, with a teary Jelly remarking, “This is an overdue hug. It's going to heal a lot of people, not just us”.

It's a heartwarming moment of friendship, one that feels all the more emotionally charged when set against the backdrop of Forrest and Jelly's brief dispute last October.

Forrest took to social media to announce he felt convicted not to attend the 2025 DOVE and GRAMMY Awards, with the ‘OKAY!’ hitmaker sharing that it didn't sit right with him to accept glory and praise when he's making music “from Jesus and for Jesus”.

Jelly responded in the comments, “This is an interesting take - I [dig] it , how do you think this compares as profiting from the same music. I love that you said “I don’t want to get a trophy for something that’s from Jesus for Jesus “ which is awesome - but also make MILLIONS of dollars doing that same thing that is From Jesus for Jesus”.

He went on, “Won’t receive trophy for something from Jesus for Jesus but will take the profits from something from Jesus for Jesus. Maybe im missing something here lol”.

Then, Jelly seemingly threw shade at Forrest during his acceptance speech for winning the 2025 GMA Dove Award for ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’ with Brandon Lake, with the ‘Need a Favor’ crooner quipping, “I'm so glad that I could see the forest for the trees”.

But Forrest replied with nothing but kindness, congratulating Jelly in the comments and then uploading a lengthy meditation on the back-and-forth, underlining that he was grateful Jelly had questioned his choice and opened up the conversation.

Forrest mused, “All I'm going to say to you, Jelly, is, ‘I love this question’. This is the question that kept me from making Christian music for so many years, because I didn't want to make a business out of worship music. I didn't want to make a business out of Jesus. So I actually didn't participate. And then, one day, I felt like God was telling me to release...my ‘Quiet Time’ song, and I did. Here's the thing, legally, it was self-produced and self-written. So legally, that money comes to me. What I do with that money after it legally comes to me, I'm never going to tell anybody, because your left hand isn't supposed to know from your right hand”.

This was seemingly a reference to the Bible verse, Matthew 6:3, in which it's written that you shouldn't seek praise for charitable actions. This idea is conveyed through the analogy of not allowing your left hand to see what your right hand is doing.

The Contemporary Christian Music trailblazer powerfully continued, “I might give 90% of my money away, I might give 10% of my money away, somewhere in between, but y'all are never going to know that because that's my relationship with Jesus. But I love this conversation, and I'm willing to be refined in any area”.

He added, “I'm just stoked by this comment. This is something that I would love to figure out. And in the meantime, I'm a safe place for you, bro. Whether that's on the phone or on here on social media. I'm for you, bro. God is for you. He has a plan for your life”.

It seems they had a chance to connect in-person following this exchange, with the trailer for The Jesus Generation hinting that we'll get a behind-the-scenes look at their friendship.

The Jesus Generation, which is produced by Lionsgate, is set to serve as a fascinating look at Forrest Frank's ascent over the past few years into one of the most popular Contemporary Christian Music artists on the planet, with the ‘NOTHING ELSE’ singer-songwriter selling out stadiums and arenas across North America.

Forrest has found a way to connect with a broad, diverse listenership, with his Hip-Hop, folk and pop-infused style resonating with younger fans. In a genre that has often received flak for simply mimicking other styles, Forrest has completely redefined the Contemporary Christian Music landscape, and in doing so, the Texas native continues to introduce swathes of new fans to his spirit-driven message.

The Jesus Generation, which is rumoured to be named after Forrest's next studio album, is set to hit movie theatres in 2027, with no release date announced just yet.
