Jelly Roll is opening up with fans about his relationship with food, and his ongoing struggle against over-eating and food addiction as deals with his high-profile divorce from his wife of ten years, Bunnie XO, during an insightful new instalment of his vlog.
Jelly has always been candid with his struggles while on his weight loss journey, and it's both heartening and inspiring to hear the ‘Need a Favor’ hitmaker being vulnerable with his followers about how he still falls back into old habits, rather than pretending as though he never makes any missteps. In doing so, he hopefully offers encouragement and reassurance to others facing similar challenges.
Jelly begins by revealing, “I've been over-eating the last three or four days, and I was feeling myself stress-eat. The addict in me came out. We had this show at this one spot that I love their catering. And they have a dairy-free skillet cookie. I don't eat nothing like that. I'm like a drug addict. You can't eat that, because [if] I eat that, I'll eat two. I ate four. Later that night, I'm at the taco truck, getting a peanut butter fluff. Next thing I know, we're at the rest-stop for a chocolate bar”.
The Nashville native highlights how quickly he can end up spiralling, “I'm like, ‘Damn. I did that fast’. I would've consumed 2,000 extra calories today that I didn't see coming. Now I have to pay attention to it because it's like the taste of blood. Now it's gonna take me a whole other week to get that back completely out of my mouth”.
Jelly reflects, “I can't have one anything. My problem is, it could be healthy. You put a bowl of strawberries in front of me, I will eat the entire bowl of strawberries. For sure, I gotta take a few strawberries, and be like, ‘Put the bowl away’”.
The ‘Son of a Sinner’ singer-songwriter touches on how he's always found it difficult to enjoy things in moderation, whether it's food, alcohol or drugs, “What I learned is, how you do anything is how you do everything. I'm like that with alcohol. I've never done a shot. I've never done a line of...I've never smoked a joint. You know what I mean? Either we're smoking all day, we're drinking all night...”
He concludes, “Once I realised that was my thing with food, now I just have things that are just like...Like that skillet cookie, I just don't eat it. People are like, ‘Oh you can have one for a cheat meal’. I'm like, ’No, you can have one for a cheat meal. I can't!’ You know what I'm saying? Because it might be a five-day food bender for me”.
Jelly is in the middle of his 2026 Big Ass Stadium Tour, Part 2 with Post Malone, with the three-time GRAMMY-winner currently gearing up for a momentous show at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. In-between his blockbuster tour-stops, Jelly continues to share new material from his eagerly anticipated next album, such as ‘Hands Up’ and ‘Thorns’, with many fans speculating that the genre-blurring maverick is working on a Contemporary Christian Music project.
