It seems we might be on the cusp of a new Lainey Wilson era.

The Louisiana native has started teasing something major on the horizon via a series of mysterious billboards across the US. Alongside an image of Lainey in her signature cowboy hat, the cryptic message reads: “ATTENTION - Lainey Wilson has lost her phone, keys, wallet”. There's an instruction to text “LOST” to a number to “help her find them”, and in return, you get to hear a brief snippet of a new song.

Very few details have been released so far, but judging by the billboard and the fact that fans are being asked to text “LOST”, we suspect this might be the name of the new single.

We've had a quick look through the ASCAP repertory, which often features unreleased songs, and there's one track called ‘Lost Sheep’ that's been co-written by Lainey with Brandon Lake, Trannie Anderson, Hank Bentley and Jacob Sooter.

Could this be the song Lainey is teasing through these new enigmatic billboards? The reference to being “lost” could be a clue that it is the forthcoming song, but we're not convinced, as we'd imagine the theme of ‘Lost Sheep’ to be around something more spiritual and introspective than lost keys, a phone and a wallet. What's more, Lake's inclusion suggests it's part of his impending Christian and Country crossover project, like his recent Lainey duet, ‘The Jesus I Know Now’.

So far, Lainey has only released one original solo track, ‘Can't Sit Still’, since her Whirlwind (Deluxe) project, and it feels like both ‘Can't Sit Still’ and ‘Lost’ will appear on her next album.

Throughout her recent Netflix documentary, the ‘Country's Cool Again‘ hitmaker suggests she's constantly working on new music, implying her next project is coming soon. These billboards appear to confirm that Lainey's Whirlwind follow-up is imminent, and we reckon we'll get an announcement in the coming days...
