Kelly Reilly, who plays the formidable fan-favourite Beth Dutton on Dutton Ranch, has reflected on what it was like hanging out with Lainey Wilson during the latter's stint on Yellowstone. Lainey made several cameos as Abby during Season 5, with the ‘Country's Cool Again’ hitmaker even returning for the grand finale in 2024.

During a new interview with Absolute Radio Country's Baylen Leonard, Reilly recalls how kind and generous Lainey was when they were filming, with the Louisiana native putting on special private performances for the cast and crew when they were off.

Reilly begins, “I mean, to see what Lainey Wilson is doing...”, adding, “We did [become friends off-screen]. I mean, she was around when we were doing the COVID - we call it the COVID season - because we shot it that summer. And, you know...before anybody really knew who she was, she was just putting on shows for us at the barn, the ranch, just at the weekends, because we couldn't go anywhere else”.

Reilly reveals they got to see Lainey live again while filming the new season of her and Cole Hauser's Dutton Ranch spin-off, “We were all in a family together. So yeah it's pretty wild to see where she is now. And then we all got to see her in concert while we were filming in Texas. She came to Dallas...She's extraordinary”.

With Dutton Ranch, which premiered last weekend, following chronologically on from Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, and in tandem with Taylor Sheridan's other spin-off Marshals, we're hoping the door might be open for another appearance from Lainey.

At the end of Yellowstone, the ‘Heart Like a Truck’ crooner, who plays on-screen singer Abby, reunites with one of the Dutton's longstanding ranch-hands, Ryan (Ian Bohen). They leave on tour together, and we'd love to see Lainey's crew rolling into Texas at some point during Dutton Ranch over the next few weeks.

When it was first announced that Lainey would be featuring on Yellowstone in 2022, the country titan paid tribute to Reilly, and joked that she was initially wary due to Beth's fiery persona, “She was already my favorite but after meeting her and hanging out with her, she’s actually one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my entire life, which was shocking, because she is tough mama jama…She will cut you. But she told me, she was like, ‘I was hoping you’d be my first friend on the show'”.

Much like Yellowstone, which spotlighted an array of Lainey's songs, Dutton Ranch boasts an impressive soundtrack so far, and showcased fellow artist Morgan Wade in her first role as Carol, a bartender. With Riley Green starring in Marshals alongside Luke Grimes, we're excited to see if there are other country-crossovers in store - both on-screen and on the soundtrack - as Dutton Ranch continues.
