Lainey Wilson's husband, Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges, is opening up about their relationship, with Duck joking about how his friends keep asking him for a date with Ella Langley.
During a wide-ranging interview with SuduTV and Mudcat Media, Duck begins by sharing that Lainey hilariously pokes fun at him for seemingly having two rises to fame, “Lainey messes with me and says, like, you're the only person I know to get famous twice. You know, my run with the Steelers, and then, you know, with her”.
Duck then amusingly reveals that, because he is now married to a country superstar in Lainey, a few of his good buddies think they have a shot with Langley, “Some of my friends, they'll get with me and they'll be like, dude, set me up with Ella. I feel bad because I gave all these guys false hope that if I did it, they can do it”.
Duck goes on, “But yeah, I mean definitely between [playing for] Pittsburgh and, you know, marrying Lainey, I definitely get a lot of, like, dude, you're the goat. He's the man”.
It's hilarious hearing Duck reveal how, because he was successful in his pursuit of Lainey, his friends now think that, if he could do it, maybe they have a chance with Langley.
And who knows, maybe he's mentioned some of his friends’ names to Langley when they cross paths at awards shows. But judging by the widespread rumours that Langley is with Tucker Wetmore, it seems they've been unfruitful in their attempts.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Duck reflects on how he first came across Lainey, “I had heard her on the radio, which kind of sparked my interest to like, man, let me see what this girl...looks like and whatnot. And then when I just, you know, went to her social media and saw that she was from Louisiana and she rode four wheelers, and this and that, like, man, I need to find a way to ask this girl out on a date”.
He continues, “We actually had mutual friends, and I asked her out, you know, through that. And man, you know, here we are, five and a half years later...Got married in May, and man, it's been great ever since. I knew she was the one from the very beginning”.
Duck - an avid deer-hunter - recalls a positive omen he noticed when he first arrived at her home, “I was pulling in her driveway and there was like four or five deer that had just skirted out of front yard. And I was like...dang, she might be the one”.
He admits he enjoys being Lainey's ‘muse’ on songs like ‘4X4XU’ and ‘Kinda Love It’, “They're typically my favorite songs out of the batch. It's cool that just by being myself...Like, I'm not trying to inspire her. She just gets inspired, and it's cool because I know that she loves me and she's got my back...It's cool to give her stuff to write about. And I love when a song about me is like her...biggest song”.
Duck and Lainey have become one of the most beloved power couples in modern country, with their relationship and marriage increasingly influencing the latter's music.
We hear this most prominently on her latest single, the infectious, uptempo ‘Kinda Love It’, which finds the ‘Heart Like a Truck’ hitmaker embracing the risk of new romance.
After meeting in 2021, Duck and Lainey got engaged in 2025 at George Jones’ old house in Franklin, Tennessee. They tied the knot in May 2026 at Ruskin Cave in nearby Dickson.
With Lainey hinting that she has more material inspired by her husband, given how addictive ‘Kinda Love It’ is, we can't wait to hear what other lovestruck and marriage-driven odes the ‘Bell Bottoms Up’ singer-songwriter has up her sleeve for her new album.
